I am writing to formally file a damage claim regarding a parcel delivered by DHL, tracking number 1423248923 which was expected on May 28th.
Upon receiving my package, I discovered the following damage:
• My computer is broken
• The computer was deliberately opened and unscrewed: all four screws are missing and cannot be found anywhere. This is not a transport accident — screws do not disappear on their own. This is, in my view, formal proof that someone intentionally opened the device during transport or storage
• The stand that holds the computer upright is broken
It is completely unacceptable to deliver a device in such a condition. If a physical inspection took place, whether by customs or otherwise, the parcel should have been properly reassembled before delivery.
Furthermore, I received absolutely no notification or information regarding the delivery on May 29th. Since the parcel was already supposed to have been delivered on May 28th, the least I could have expected was to be informed that a new delivery attempt would be made the following day. This complete lack of communication is unacceptable. The day before the delivery, I stayed home all day waiting for my parcel — no one ever showed up and no attempt was made to deliver it. The following day, when the driver finally came, he was unwilling to wait even five minutes for me to come to the door. Furthermore, he intended to leave the parcel in front of my door without obtaining my signature, despite the fact that this parcel required a mandatory signature upon delivery. He waited only four minutes before threatening to leave. This is a clear violation of DHL’s delivery procedures and is completely unacceptable.
All of this raises serious questions about what happened to my parcel and I demand that a full investigation be carried out.
This level of customer service is absolutely unacceptable.
I purchased shipping insurance for this parcel and I am therefore requesting:
1. Full reimbursement for the damaged computer
2. Full reimbursement of the shipping costs: €202
3. Full reimbursement of the customs fees: €187 !
I have photos of all the damage, the packaging, and the missing screws, which I can provide upon request.
I expect a prompt response explaining the claims process and the steps that will be taken to resolve this matter.
The parcel was mishandled despite the clearly visible “VERY FRAGILE” label on the box. The mentions “REPACKED by DHL” and “SECURITY CHECKED”, along with the DHL adhesive tape applied to the box, prove beyond any doubt that it was DHL who opened, handled, and repackaged this parcel, thereby causing all of this damage.
I also wish to point out that this is not the first time I have suffered damage caused by DHL, as evidenced by our previous exchange. A previous parcel had already been wrongly returned due to an identification error by your agents, who were unable to distinguish between a portable battery and a hard drive. These repeated incidents reflect an unacceptable lack of professionalism on the part of your services.
I also demand a clear explanation as to why my parcel was opened and repackaged by your services, and what led to such mishandling of my parcel despite the explicit “VERY FRAGILE” label clearly visible on the packaging. I expect a detailed response on this matter.
The parcel contained a high-value computer made up of the following components:
• Intel Core i7-12700KF Processor
• ASUS PRIME B760M-A D4 CSM Motherboard
• Corsair Vengeance RGB Pro 2×16GB DDR4 3600MHz RAM
• Palit GeForce RTX 4070 Super 12GB Graphics Card
• ASUS ROG Strix LC II 240 ARGB CPU Cooler
• Corsair MP600 Core XT 1TB NVMe PCIe 4.0 SSD
• FSP Hyper Pro 700W Power Supply
The total value of this computer is estimated at over €1,500.
I would like to clarify that I only insured my parcel for €800 because I trusted DHL to be a serious and professional company. Had I known that DHL would handle my parcel in such a manner, I would naturally have insured it for its full value of €1,500 or chosen a different carrier.
