Last night me and a friend got dinner and sat on the patio. Right off the bat they did us dirty by not telling us they don’t serve soup on the patio, one of the things we were most looking forward to. next, we ordered drinks, an appetizer and our mains all at the same time. It took about 20 minutes, maybe more just to get our drinks. we also were not brought bread until i asked one of the hostess walking by, already being sat there half an hour. After about an hour we finally got one spinach dip appetizer… 1 hour for a spinach dip is insane in my opinion but hey. time keeps going by, still no food. The couple that was sat at the table next to us a MINIMUM of 30 minutes AFTER we were sat got their pasta 20 minutes before we did… so in total we waited 2 hours for our pasta which is absolutely RIDICULOUS. It doesnt end there… we finally get our pasta and they completely messed up my friends order, bringing her plain penne pasta with red sauce and cheese when she ordered the pasta with chicken and bacon on it… the server apologized and said he’d get it fixed… 15-20 minutes later returns with a chicken cutlet and a little bowl of bacon and onions with a bit more sauce… right… genuinely never experienced a worst restaurant experience in my life. And by the looks of the other review that was placed about last night, this place needs to get a GRIP REAL SOON. Will NOT be coming back.
The service from the wait staff was amazing. The kitchen was slacking as well as the quality of the food. The chicken is just as processed at the golden arches, and then I only received 5 small pieces of processed chicken. Over priced for what is served. The sauce was dry and chunky. I waited 2 hrs for food with a reservation and still received cold food and incorrect ingredients. For the 200 dollar bill I was given a $40 dollar certificate! Was actually a slap to the face tbh. So sad
I did reach out to eastside directly before doing this, after receiving acknowledgement form customer service that management from bells corners would get back to me after 3 follow ups and a month of waiting. complete radio silence... first off we have been traditionally very satisfied with this particular east side Mario's as well as others.
this particular evening the food was far below any standards we have come to expect.
my wife and I both had a variance of a chicken protein and a pasta dish
when informing the server/bar manager about our experience.
which was the garden salad was very bland with not very much dressing, we declined to take home the pasta that neither of us had more than one mouthful due to the taste being antiseptic with next to no sauce, the flavour was like eating a basil red wash.
his response was troubling, as he immediately informed us on how much the quality of the ingredients has gone down to save money and that we weren't the only ones commenting on it.
I was expecting something along the lines of let me check with the kitchen to make sure you received the correct order or apologies as that's not our usual standards.
not to be told, essentially don't bother coming back as this is the new normal
Regardless we did pay our full bill and tipped 18%
Thought you should be aware

Used to frequent this location often when living in Ottawa and never had any issues. Was there last night and was really turned off. Initially we were on the patio and ended up inside as it was a bit too cold but service was great upstairs while we were there. We ended up at the bar downstairs. At first I wanted to cash out and leave as the bartender didnt seem to want to be there and was paying no attention to us. We had to wait to try and get her attention to ask for menus/asked her if she knew how to make a certain drink and just said "not really"/continuously disappeared for extended periods of time and we had to ask another server if we could please get more drinks/soup/salad as we were sitting empty for some time. There was also no one else at the bar. It wasn't really until after that, that we saw a little more of her but she was rarely behind the bar and we saw two of the kitchen staff behind the bar more than her (I think that one was training?). I get we all have off days and maybe this was one of them but being in the industry, if this is a regular day the experience that this bartender gives is not positive for your business. I can't bring myself to ever tip below at least 15% so of course I did but it was certainly not earned at all, and I say that in the nicest way. Food was great, no issues at all with the food. It was hot and plentiful and we all enjoyed!

One of my worst visits ever. Not coming back. In the past you used to be able to take home your leftover soup and bread that you’ve eaten. I asked to take it home and I was denied and told that it was theft if I did take it home. I would have ordered some to go if that were the case I really didn’t care, but the situation was really uncomfortable and I was not happy about how they were dealing with the situation. I also had a waiter talk very rudely to me and start throwing their hands in the air and calling me rude and different things because I was on the phone and said to her that I was on the phone and couldn’t talk at the moment. There was another person sitting with me that she could have talked to, but she wanted to talk to the person who was on the phone. And after that instant, she completely ignored that I was there. If you want to go to East side Mario’s, don’t go to this one. I attached a picture of my almost completely finished soup that would’ve been theft If I took it home.
