Subject: Formal Complaint: Unacceptable 30-Minute Delay and Discriminatory Treatment at Location 160 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa, ON K1L 1A9.
Time 5:38 PM to 6:12 PM
Dear Subway Customer Care / Franchise Management,
I am writing to formally log a complaint regarding an incident that occurred at your location at 160 Beechwood Ave, Ottawa, ON K1L 1A9 on May 17,2026 at approximately 5:38 PM. I was operating as a delivery courier for SkipTheDishes.
Upon entering the restaurant, I professionally provided my order number to the staff on duty, who were of Indian descent. I was told to wait. I patiently waited for 30 minutes to receive a single order.
During this extensive delay, I witnessed the staff continuously prioritize and serve multiple walk-in customers who arrived long after I did. My order was entirely neglected while online orders should be prepared concurrently or in the order received. When the food was finally handed to me after half an hour, there was absolutely no acknowledgement of the delay, no explanation, and no apology.
As a courier, my time is my livelihood. Being forced to wait 30 minutes for a standard order is entirely unacceptable. Furthermore, because of the stark contrast between how I was ignored and how other customers were promptly served, I was left feeling deeply uncomfortable. As an individual of African descent, the blatant lack of respect and deliberate stalling felt less like a standard delay and more like targeted discrimination or an attempt to provoke an angry reaction from me.
Fortunately, I maintained my professionalism and remained patient, but I will not tolerate being treated as a second-class citizen while trying to do my job.
I request that management review the security footage and POS logs from this date and time to address this behavior with the staff members involved. I would like a formal response detailing how this matter will be handled to ensure that all couriers and customers—regardless of their race or background—are treated with equal respect and efficiency.
I look forward to your prompt response.
Sincerely,
Raymond Reddington
