It was supposed open 9 but still closed 10 minutes after opening time. They should really consider changing management considering everyone else’s comments about this location

As an older gentleman on a fixed income, I budget enough to buy a subway sandwich every couple of months or so as a special treat. Normally, I pay cash for my sub, but recently I bought a $50 Subway gift card at the supermarket in order to earn $5 in loyalty PC points. I'm always trying to save a little money whenever I can and use the PC points to buy groceries.
Today, I ordered a sub for lunch and when I tried to use the gift card, the little Asian guy working there claimed that all Subway restaurants in Canada can't accept gift cards because of the current trade dispute with the US. He went on to say that the American company responsible for processing gift card transactions is refusing to process Canadian Subway card transactions.
This sounded fishy to me, so I called another Subway located on the Queensway and they told me that they accept Subway gift cards. Needless to say, after almost 15 years of going there, I'm never going back. It's not that they didn't accept gift cards anymore, (the Subway website even warns customers that some Subway locations do not participate in the gift card program), it's because he lied to a loyal customer of 15 years to try to trick me into spending cash instead of going to another subway that does accept gift cards. It's a real shame because this location is very close to my home. Thankfully, there's another location just a 22 minute walk away and I can co-ordinate my trips to Subway with my daily walking exercise program.

⭐️ 1/5 Stars: Poor Management, Unfresh Food, and Bad Ethics
It has been a while since I visited this Subway location, and the recent changes are deeply disappointing. I understand the brand was recently acquired by Roark Capital (the company that owns Dunkin'), but the drop in quality and service is unacceptable.
Terrible Value: Prices have increased across the board. The cost no longer matches the value of what you actually get.
Unethical Water Policy: They refuse to give paying customers a simple cup of ice water. Denying water is ridiculous and says a lot about the current management's ethics. If cost is the issue, buy cheap Dixie cups, but don't deny a basic necessity. I am deciding to stop supporting this business for this reason alone.
Awful Customer Service: I visited today, and the store failed to open on time. By 9:30 AM (30 minutes past opening), the doors were still locked. The morning employee. an Asian gentleman distinct from the afternoon staff made me wait outside while he got ready, rather than letting me wait inside. When he finally unlocked the door, he completely ignored his lateness and offered no apology for the inconvenience. They all have this weird attitude, if you do not like it then leave instead of bringing down the community.
Discolored Ingredients: The food standards have plummeted. Looking closely at the counter, there was visible discoloration on several of the vegetables. It does not look fresh or up to standard.Sleazy Atmosphere: The vibe of the store is completely off. It has lost its vibrant energy and now feels chaotic, uninviting, and like a sleazy joint.
Between the price hikes, poor food quality, late openings, and lack of basic hospitality, I will not be returning to this location.

This Subway location appears to be poorly managed. I have visited twice, and on both occasions there was only one employee working, resulting in very slow service. The food also appeared old and dried out, which was disappointing.
The décor is noticeably dated, and the restaurant would benefit from investing in proper air conditioning to improve the overall customer experience.
