Repeated rudeness from employee Jess. beware if you visit this location.
My wife and I love Subway’s tuna wraps with veggies. We have given this Port McNeill location multiple chances, and after today’s fourth incident of harassment and mistreatment, we felt it was important to warn others. We will still visit this location because we love the food and it is our local Subway, but this behavior needs to stop.
Sunday 16 August 0630 pm.
interaction:
Jess: What do you want?
Me: 2 tuna wraps with veggies please.
Jess: Which all veggies? Say extra if you need extra.
Me: Extra lettuce, extra spinach, extra olives.
At that point she stopped, gave me an unpleasant look, and stopped adding extra olives.
Me: Do you have a problem?
Jess: YES! I have a problem.
Me: What is your problem?
Jess: hmm (rolled her eyes) It’s gonna be EXTRA!
Me: Charge me if it’s extra. Did I ever mention I won’t pay?
Jess: Don’t do the drama!
Me: First learn how to talk to customers! Its not me, you are creating a scene. Is it a problem to eat more veggies? Is there a rule? I’m willing to pay, so what is your problem here?
She then left our order and started taking orders from other customers. Another employee had to finish our sandwiches.
This is the fourth time we have been mistreated and harassed by Jess. We had been avoiding this store and driving to Port Hardy because of her and another male employee. Last time when my wife asked for sauce, the other employee literally threw the sauce back into the sauce area and seemed upset that we asked for extra veggies.
That lean male employee was not working today, but I want to mention him as well because he is another ill-mannered employee who mistreats customers. He has been rude to us in the past too, and customers should be aware of him as well.
To anyone visiting this location: be aware of Jess and the other lean male employee. They have the ability to spoil your day and mood with eye rolls and condescending looks while you are simply ordering food. It took us a while to shake off how she made us feel. No customer should be made to feel low or harassed for asking for extra veggies - especially when they are willing to pay.
I don’t understand: is there a rule that customers cannot ask for more veggies ? If so, why is it not posted? We are willing to pay for any extra charges. No employee should assume, roll their eyes, insult customers, or make them feel low for ordering food. 'Jess' lacks basic manners, service mindset, and respect. She is not fit to be in a customer-facing role.
Port McNeill is a small, close-knit community where empathy, service, and compassion should be the standard. Jess’s behavior is a disgrace to that standard. We gave this location three chances, and this time they deserve this review. We will continue to visit because we want to support local and enjoy Subway, but we hope the owner or manager reviews the cameras and takes action. Please teach Jess manners first, and then the Subway classes.
Thank you!
