VERY DISAPPOINTING EXPERIENCE AT THE FORT MCMURRAY LOCATION
My family and I have been regular Five Guys customers and have generally enjoyed the food. Unfortunately, our recent experience has completely changed how we feel about this location.
A few weeks ago, I took my mum and little sister to get takeout. When we got home, we discovered that the burgers were raw and tasteless and completely inedible. It was very disappointing to spend that much money on food that had to be thrown away.
Today, my mum and I returned for supper and decided to respectfully bring up what had happened. While speaking with the cashier, a female employee interrupted and immediately told us, “That cannot be us. Maybe you went to another restaurant, Fatburger or somewhere else.”
My mum tried to explain the situation, but she was repeatedly interrupted and wasn't given a chance to speak. At no point did the employee apologize or even acknowledge our concern. She eventually walked away from us.
After our meal, my mum returned to explain that we felt we had been treated unfairly. Unfortunately, we experienced the same dismissive behaviour again. We were left standing there without anyone properly addressing us, while other employees were laughing, smirking, and making faces. That was extremely disrespectful and embarrassing.
Food quality issues can happen, but how a business responds to a customer's concern matters just as much. We weren't looking for an argument—we simply wanted to be heard and treated with basic courtesy.
After being loyal customers, it is very disappointing to say that this will be our last visit to the Fort McMurray Five Guys location. Customer service should mean listening, acknowledging concerns, and treating customers with respect. Sadly, that was not our experience.
