Oh where do I begin?! Had a fire in my kitchen in February 2025. Thankfully, it was all contained within the oven, but with the smoke damage and the retardant that the firemen had to use to be sure everything was safe there was considerable amount of damage. My insurance company for some odd reason chose a company 2 1/2 hrs out of town to remedy the mess when we live in an area where there would be more than enough local companies to choose. However, for what I thought would be easier I went with this company — First Onsite Cedar Rapids. The people they initially sent seemed to know what to do, but then a different supervisor and crew ended up doing the work. They contracted a company that may or may not have employed legal citizens or maybe that was the schtick they used when trying to pass off questions about their work. The finished product continued to be a lesson in patience as I would have to say, try again. I don’t think the people they employed were more experienced than me in how to fix things. The one project manager was constantly asking me for my recommendations. When they got sick of me not accepting their less than adequate work (see pics) they ghost you for months until the insurance company has to employee an intermediary contractor company to work with them to get back to work. After all of that and several replacement project managers and finally the Des Moines (3 hrs away) office to have to come finish the work. One guy from the Des Moines office finished CORRECTLY in one afternoon what the Cedar Rapids office couldn’t finish correctly in 12 months. Project finished May 2026 just some of the crappy work:
Removing cabinetry to mitigate & replace flooring, only to through it all back in place haphazardly so that the dishwasher no longer fit. To make it work they had to shave off a cabinet to make it fit.
Also, when placing these cabinets, left with large gap on one side of the stove and countertop people went ahead and slapped the countertop in place.
Replacing baseboards and leaving gaping without marrying to other woodwork and insisting that’s the way it’s supposed to look.
Careless tool marks that I found.. they didn’t not mention or offer to fix.
Inadequate pipe fitting to cabinet. It took them 3 times to get it right. The pic is the initial product they tried to pass off.
Leaving old materials lying in my yard for weeks before hauling away — because HOA started to complain.

If I could give negative stars I would. Horrible experience with the reconstruction end of their work. Too many issues to list on this review, so will limit it to took way to long to complete and work was sloppy and shoddy. They took no pride in their work and left messes, lights on and doors to the outside open almost every time they were at our house.

I had a fantastic experience with FIRST ONSITE Property Restoration. Their team was professional, responsive, and extremely knowledgeable from start to finish. They installed air handlers in my home, and the difference in air quality has been incredible. The air feels noticeably cleaner, fresher, and easier to breathe, which made a huge impact on our overall comfort.
They took the time to explain the process, worked efficiently, and made sure everything was set up properly. I also appreciated how respectful they were of my home, keeping the workspace clean and organized. If you’re looking for a company that truly cares about improving your indoor environment, I highly recommend FIRST ONSITE Property Restoration. They exceeded my expectations!

If zero was an option this company would get a ZERO! I am appalled at the lack of communication, the unprofessionalism, the “delay, delay, DELAYS,” and most importantly the lack of empathy for people affected by a FIRE. Multiple people were affected by a house fire and First Onsite with all their issues has halted jobs and prevented work from continuing! Shame shame shame on you! Families are displaced and just wanted to get back to their homes but will First Onsite answer calls? Give people updates? Talk to other contractors? Do anything that they say they’d will do?… correct answer is NO! This business should be ashamed and they will be hearing from lawyers very soon!!
