The help I received today from A.R. was excellent. I was at this store yesterday to buy a box and worked with someone else. That person, despite my giving him dimensions, sold me a box that was way too big, and would have cost $71 for shipping. A.R. intervened today and credited me the cost of the box I purchased yesterday. Then, he found a much cheaper box, packed it, and readied it for shipping for half the cost - 36$. A.R. was excellent to work with.

I had an experience here that left a really bad impression.
I stopped by with an Amazon return, a small lightweight box that I hadn't yet taped shut. The man behind the counter told me it needed to be taped shut. I asked him for a small piece of tape.
Let me be clear, this is one those times in life where 3 inches would have truthfully been enough to get the job done.
The employee would not give me a piece of tape. He pointed me toward the rolls of tape and told me I could buy some.
I was surprised by this and thought maybe he was joking. He was not.
I asked if he could just print the label and use that to seal the box.
Nope.
I get it, I should have taped it shut at home and I didn't. Policy is policy. But man what a policy to have. The anti-helpful corporate greed policy. Thanks for that, UPS.
Buying the tape after that felt wrong. I just drove home and taped it myself (like I should have to begin with).
I don't blame the employee at all. We all have to play by these greedy corpo's rules to maintain our meager bi-weekly deposits, even if it means ignoring the human instinct to help someone in need.
What a world to live in!
