Today I entered the restaurant and clearly stated that I wanted the "Meal of the Day" and that I wanted it made as a Footlong.
The employee immediately selected the Spicy Italian sandwich, which was the advertised Meal of the Day, and proceeded to ask me what cheese and vegetables I wanted. At no point did he indicate that I was ordering anything other than the Meal of the Day promotion.
After the sandwich was prepared, I was charged $12.99. I paid and stepped aside.
Only then did I realize that I had not received the drink or cookies that are supposed to be included with the Meal of the Day promotion.
When I politely asked about the drink, the employee claimed that I had never ordered the Meal of the Day. This makes absolutely no sense. If I had not ordered the Meal of the Day, how did he immediately know to prepare the Spicy Italian sandwich that was specifically being advertised as that day's Meal of the Day?
Instead of correcting the mistake, apologizing, or honoring the promotion, he repeatedly insisted that I had failed to order it properly. Eventually, after an argument, he reluctantly handed me a drink but still acted as though he was doing me a favor rather than correcting his own mistake.
The entire interaction was unprofessional, frustrating, and completely inconsistent with the customer service standards I would expect from Subway.
