Review for Subway – 20789 Great Falls Plaza Suite 166, Sterling, VA 20165
I am writing this after many years of being a loyal Subway customer—not just at this location, but across multiple stores. Unfortunately, this particular location has consistently delivered the worst customer service I’ve ever experienced, and my experiences match the growing number of similar reviews from others. This is not an isolated issue; it is a pattern.
This store is run by a couple, and contrary to some earlier assumptions, both individuals are consistently rude, dismissive, and unprofessional. Over time, it has become clear that they resent customers who use coupons, rewards, or free subs. They frequently attempt to upcharge, alter pricing, or remove items from online ordering—such as eliminating fountain drinks from combo options—only to charge extra in-store and provide misleading explanations. Their posted menu and their actual charges often do not match.
Across multiple visits and based on many other reviews, the same issues keep appearing:
• Hostile attitude toward customers using coupons or rewards
• Comments implying customers are “cheap” for using promotions
• Incorrect or inflated charges, including charging separately for items already included
• Visible irritation when customers request normal toppings or customization
• Lack of basic courtesy—no greeting, no acknowledgment, no receipt provided
• Aggressive tone, dismissive gestures, and unprofessional behavior
• A general unwillingness to follow Subway’s own menu and pricing standards
What is even more concerning is that this behavior seems to be directed more harshly toward certain customers. Based on repeated interactions and the consistent reports from others, I strongly suspect that some of the treatment may be racially motivated. While I cannot speak to anyone’s intentions, the pattern is too consistent to ignore and absolutely warrants investigation.
This is not a one-time misunderstanding or a bad day. This is an ongoing issue that has driven away many long-time customers. For a global brand like Subway, this level of unprofessionalism, hostility, and potential discrimination is unacceptable.
I strongly urge Subway Corporate to investigate and escalate this matter. The behavior at this location is damaging the brand, violating basic customer service standards, and creating an environment where customers do not feel respected or welcome.
Until meaningful changes are made, I cannot recommend this location to anyone.
