I had a very disappointing experience at this UPS Store location.
Before I even got in line, I went up to the clerk and asked if I could use their tape or if I needed to purchase some. He snickered and didn’t respond. I asked again, “Does that mean I can use your tape or do I have to buy it?” He finally said I would need to buy it.
So I purchased the tape and got in line. While I was taping up my boxes, I overheard him offer to tape two other women’s boxes for them at no charge. That’s when I became concerned about the inconsistency.
When I got to the counter, I politely asked why I was required to buy tape while he offered to tape their boxes. He snickered again and refused to answer me. After snickering more times and ignoring me for several minutes. He avoided eye contact and would not respond directly to my question. I told him I was just asking for clarification and didn’t understand why he wouldn’t communicate with me.
After repeatedly asking for an explanation, he finally said, “Those were Amazon packages.” I explained that mine were Amazon packages too, but he still didn’t provide a clear answer and continued to ignore me.
I then asked for his name, and he refused to give it to me. In the end, he charged me $4.99 plus tax for the tape anyway.
I have never experienced this level of dismissiveness and unprofessional behavior. Being ignored, snickered at, treated inconsistently in front of other customers, and then refused a name when I asked was extremely frustrating. I’m a regular customer, and this experience was very disappointing.
