I only went to Subway because of the Fandango gift card promotion. My previous experience with Subway years ago was disappointing due to not so fresh ingredients, and unfortunately this visit didn't change my opinion.
The employees were unfamiliar with the Fandango promotion and couldn't explain how it worked. I purchased two qualifying premium sandwiches meals and upgrades on the same receipt, only to later find out that only one reward qualified per receipt. Had I known that beforehand, I would have asked for separate transactions. In this situation, it would have been reasonable for the store to either split the receipt or reissue it, but I was not offered any solution. While I don't blame the employees personally, better training on current promotions would have prevented the confusion.
The meal deal also ended up being pointless for my family. We do not eat chips or cookies and do not drink soda or sugary drinks, yet those were required as part of the “upgrade” meal. It felt like we were paying for items we couldn’t use.
The food itself was also disappointing. The vegetables did not appear fresh, and in particular the tomatoes had visible white residue on them and were floppy, the spinach was dark green wet in certain places which shows that it's no longer good, which made me deny even having vegetables. Overall the produce quality felt poor. The meatball sub has also noticeably declined in quality and portion size compared to what I remember. I was told that a footlong only receives eight meatballs, which barely covered 1/4 the bread. My kids 19 and 14 y/o specifically wanted meatball subs, and the sandwiches looked sparse and underfilled. We even took my brother and he got the five meat footlong and it was so chinzy. People really need more than that. I couldn't believe what he paid for that. He also wanted wheat bread, which was not even provided up in the case and they had to pull it out of somewhere which made it very questionable!!!!!
To make things worse, one of the cups provided had visible debris inside it, including what looked like cardboard and food particles. I told the guy right away as he handed it to me.
To try to resolve the issue, I called the phone number provided by the store. Instead of reaching someone who could help, I was sent to a personal voicemail. I left a message and never received a call back.
Overall, between the confusing promotion, lack of employee knowledge, poor communication, unsatisfactory meal deal structure, cleanliness concerns, disappointing ingredient quality, and reduced portions, the experience was not worth the price. I left feeling frustrated and disappointed and would not return.
