I came in to pick up an online order as a favor and had the worst customer service experience imaginable.
When I provided the customer’s uncommon first name, there was a slight issue because the order was placed under their first and middle name, and I couldn't recall the middle name on the spot (though I knew it started with 'M'). There was only one online order on the rack, and the uncommon first name matched.
To verify, I correctly listed the exact order items: 20 wings, fries, and extra cook time. However, because I misremembered whether the wings were all flats, the cashier refused to release the order and began interrogating me about the sauce choices for an order that wasn't mine.
To make matters worse, I had forgotten my phone. I asked the cashier to call the phone number attached to the order, but she claimed online the order did not have a phone number attached. Another employee walked over, immediately pulled up the number, and tried calling (though there was no answer). I then had to ask them to call the customer's workplace—which matched the logo on my scrubs—just to confirm the middle name.
I was forced to wait over 20 minutes for a single order. While I understand safety protocols for order pickups, I didn't magically guess an uncommon name, the exact wing count, and specific cooking instructions for the only online order sitting on their rack. They made this unnecessarily difficult and frustrating. I will be contacting corporate regarding this experience.
