I placed an order through the Wingstop website at approximately 7:45 PM and was given an estimated delivery window of 8:15 PM to 8:30 PM.
By 8:45 PM, I still had not received my order, so I called the store to check on the status. The employee who answered initially told me there was no order under my name. After I repeated and spelled my name for her, she checked again and still could not find it. Only after I provided the order number did she suddenly locate the order.
At that point, I was given multiple and conflicting explanations. First, I was told the order had been ready around 8:15 PM but had not been picked up because the driver was too busy. Then I was told another driver had arrived, but the store was too busy to hand off the order. Since I ordered directly through Wingstop and not through a third-party delivery app, I asked for clarification.
A manager then took over the call. Rather than addressing my concerns professionally, he immediately became defensive. He stated that there was “no confusion” and that I was “the one who was confused.” He went on to explain how busy the store was and how much business they had done that evening. While I understand restaurants can become extremely busy, that does not excuse poor communication or dismissive treatment of customers who are simply trying to find out where their order is.
The situation became even more frustrating when the food finally arrived. My delivery instructions specifically requested that the order be handed directly to me and that the driver ring the doorbell. Instead, the driver left the food unattended on my doorstep without knocking or ringing the bell.
Unfortunately, it was raining heavily at the time. The driver placed the order directly in an area where water had accumulated, resulting in the packaging and food being exposed to rain. When I contacted the store again, I was told that the driver’s actions were not their responsibility because the delivery was handled through DoorDash.
From a customer’s perspective, however, I ordered directly through Wingstop’s website. Throughout the ordering process, the service is presented as Wingstop delivery. Customers should not have to determine which company is responsible when something goes wrong. The responsibility should be to ensure the order is delivered correctly and that customer concerns are handled professionally.
To Wingstop’s credit, I was ultimately refunded. However, the refund does not change the fact that the order was significantly delayed, I received multiple contradictory explanations, I was spoken to disrespectfully by management, my delivery instructions were ignored, and my food was left in the rain.
This entire situation could have been avoided with a simple apology, clear communication, and basic attention to customer service. Unfortunately, this was one of the worst delivery experiences I have had, and based on this experience I cannot recommend this location.
