Zero stars. Be careful with your personal belongings. House keeping stole my engagement ring and the hotel would do nothing to help

This is my go-to hotel in big spring. Staff is always friendly and quick to check you in. The pool and gym are nice.

As an Asian woman traveling alone, this place genuinely scared me — and I don't scare easily. The room itself felt like a warehouse: enormous space, sky-high ceilings, cold fluorescent lighting. Not cozy. Not safe-feeling. Just vast and unsettling. Then came the front desk experience. Late at night, I was walking to my room when I noticed the night shift guy had come out of his back room and was following me down the corridor. I kept walking. He kept walking. I sped up. He sped up. Just as I was about to run, he leaped forward and said 'Don't worry, I'm the front desk.' Sir, that explanation would have been much more reassuring BEFORE the chase. And the grand finale: between 4-6AM, the guest above me began what I can only describe as aggressive furniture rearrangement — heavy stomping, dragging, and at one point dropping something so massive I genuinely thought the ceiling was coming down on me. I was too scared to call the front desk. I just lay there, praying. This is a rustic oil town. This is not the place for solo travelers seeking peace of mind. 1 star.

Since, There was not a reply option on my first review there’s another 1star review. I never refused to have the issue fixed. My concern is that there was poor communication throughout the entire situation. No one clearly informed me when maintenance would arrive, whether I needed to temporarily leave the room, or attempted to coordinate a specific time for entry. I waited most of the morning expecting someone to come by, but no one knocked, called, or updated me. You also could not give me a timeframe as to when maintenance would be coming or how long the repair would take. The whole reason I am staying in a hotel is because I am not from here while my boyfriend travels for work. I have stayed in many hotels with him over the years where maintenance needed to inspect or repair something in the room, and never once have I been asked to completely leave the room for maintenance just to come in and assess the issue. For this being a Best Western hotel, this should never have been an issue in the first place. The window does not even have the brackets needed to lock properly. This is not a situation where the lock was simply broken the hardware was never there to begin with, which makes this an ongoing safety concern, especially for a first-floor room. When I went to the front desk, I was then told maintenance would not enter while I was in the room, which was the first time that had been communicated to me. Had that been explained clearly from the beginning, I would have gladly stepped out temporarily so the repair could be completed. I also found the customer service extremely unprofessional. Saying, “I just read your little review on Google, I’m going to call your boyfriend since he is the one on the room and obviously pays for it,” was unnecessary and dismissive. We both obviously know the reservation is under his name and paid for with his card, but I am still a guest staying in the room and the one directly dealing with the safety concern during the day/ night while he is at work. This was a legitimate safety concern involving a first-floor window that would not lock. My frustration comes from feeling unsafe, the lack of urgency regarding the issue, poor communication, and the unprofessional way the situation was handled not from refusing repairs.
