1 star — Forced accessory bundling to get advertised price
I went into this Cricket Wireless store to add a line and buy an iPhone for $100, plus the activation fee and insurance, which should have totaled around $175. Instead, the store clerk told me I could not purchase the phone at that price without also buying an accessories bundle, bringing the total to $230+. She said the store owner requires every customer to buy accessories to get the advertised deal price.
This isn’t a deal, it’s forced bundling. If the $100 price requires a mandatory accessories purchase, that condition needs to be disclosed upfront, not sprung on customers at checkout. I came in for a simple line addition and phone purchase and left feeling like I’d been pressured into paying for things I didn’t want just to get the price I was quoted.
I’d avoid this location unless you’re prepared to negotiate hard or walk out. Calling Cricket customer service directly might be a better bet than dealing with this store.
