My husband and I are very busy and work very hard. We decided to visit the islands in the western area of Lake Erie. This was our only real get-away for this year as it is hard for us to get away from work. We booked the room based on the first roughly 10 reviews. The website showed pictures of the front, appearing to be located in a more exclusive area of Port Clinton. Not knowing the area, we were underwhelmed when arriving--located next to a McDonald's. The room online looked very high end. While more research should have been done on my end, we were not told that the hotel was pet friendly. We might not have objected to this had we not been placed next to room with a barking dog. The linens were yellow and looked worn. The fabric on the chairs appeared old and outdated. There was no door on the refrigerator freezer and the few frozen items we had melted and had to be tossed. The bar on the refrigerator door that hold water bottled-soda bottles was missing and so the small refrigerator had to be filled with our water and we had to consume or throw out the food items we brought with us. When we called about the barking dog, we were told that it was too bad and that we just had to put up with it. Breakfast was good, although the eggs appeared to be powdered (I could be wrong) and the refrigerator was locked, preventing those who would prefer yogurt for breakfast or butter on their waffles from enjoying these choices. Paid $261.68 with tax. While this is not the most expensive motel/hotel cost for a resorty area in August, it seemed pretty pricey for a Best Western, especially for THIS Best Western. Will not stay here again. Will save and pay for a hotel like The Wave near Marblehead.

If I could give 0 stars I would! We had to book this hotel in a pinch bc our AIRBNB was not suitable for us to stay in with a baby. We got there and the lady was super nice, our room though was absolutely disgusting. Mold on the ceiling, centipedes on the ceiling, the floor was damp, it was musty in there. The best part though is as we were over at put in bay, we got a call that the hotel packed up our things and had them in a secured/locked room. They said they had no availability for us to stay another night even though our online booking was for 2 nights. The manager at the hotel told us the front desk lady said we weren’t sure we would be staying the 2 nights and then cancelled our second night anyways. At that point we were stranded with nowhere to stay and forced to go home because every other hotel would have costed us $300+ for the one night. Ridiculous.

We had an excellent stay here! Our first room the air conditioning did not work and I spoke with Niosha at the front desk. She was very friendly, and understanding. She accommodated us to a new room and talked to her manager about refunding us the difference. She went above and beyond I must say! Thank you for everything! It was a great mini vacation!

Joey the manager, Sasha & Jenny were amazing. This location has great customer service. We had a small issue with our room but the staff was quick to accommodate our needs with a smile. The place was clean and located right across the street from the beach.
Thanks to both of you for your hospitality Joey ,Jenny, & Sasha
Firstly, the room has a weird, like a wet dog, smell.
Secondly, hotel doesn’t have an elevator. We didn’t know about that beforehand, so it was a hassle to carry our luggage up the narrow stairs.
Thirdly, the room thermometer was broken. When we tried to change the temperature, it was either below 19 degrees or over 40 degrees. When we asked the front desk if someone could fix it, they said the thermostat was in Fahrenheit and it can’t be fixed.
Fourthly, we called the hotel front desk for almost 5 minutes, but no one answered the phone. When we arrived at the hotel, the person at the front desk was on her phone and snapped at us for asking her for help.
Lastly, the room keys kept malfunctioning. Out of the 4 room keys (the front desk swapped them for 2 new ones), but only 1 worked. the hotel doesn’t have an elevator.
