I have been a loyal customer of this Subway since it was originally located on St. Clair, and for years, it was hands down my favorite Subway location. Unfortunately, the quality of service and the treatment of customers have become increasingly disappointing.
Most recently, I placed an online order, and the instructions were not followed. When I politely asked for extra mayonnaise at the pickup window, the older woman working there rolled her eyes at me. That type of dismissive and disrespectful behavior is completely unnecessary, especially toward someone who has supported this business for years.
Unfortunately, I’ve experienced similar issues with the older gentleman who works there. He consistently skimps on ingredients for online orders and disregards the instructions printed on the receipts.
On another occasion, I walked in to order a sandwich and requested extra tomatoes. He told me it would cost an additional dollar. Having previously worked at Subway myself, I know that standard vegetable toppings have traditionally been included without an additional charge. What made the situation even more ridiculous was that he added just ONE extra tomato slice! When I questioned why I was being charged a dollar for a single slice of tomato, the additional charge on my receipt wasn’t even listed as extra vegetables.
Beyond the inconsistent portions and failure to follow orders, what bothers me most is the attitude. Both employees have repeatedly displayed what feels like a genuine disdain for the very community they serve. If you have such little regard for the people in this neighborhood, why work in a business that depends on their support?
I also want to make something very clear: the owner/manager has always been wonderful. He is personable, welcoming, and genuinely pleasant to interact with. He is a major reason I have continued supporting this location for so many years, which makes writing this review particularly disappointing.
Unfortunately, the behavior of these two employees does not reflect the level of customer service he provides. A loyal customer should not have to sacrifice basic respect, accurate orders, or fair portions simply because the owner isn’t the person serving them.
I truly hope these issues are addressed because I would much rather continue supporting a neighborhood business I’ve loved for years than feel compelled to take my business elsewhere.
