I'll give this one five-stars because of the people that work there. My allergies were triggered on the ground floor because of a very faint musty basement smell. If you don't have this specific allergy to indoor mildew, you won't notice it. The front desk person was friendly and helpful and moved me to another room on the second floor, and there was no musty smell and my allergies were not triggered there.
It's in a more rural, nicer area of Rochester, so the people working there and the clientele are all friendly and downhome country folk. You feel safe and in a clean facility there.
The hotel does all the basics right: It's clean, there is a breakfast (that shuts down at 9am during the week!! Way too early.) No insects or shady guests. I did not encounter any loud noises. There is a small pool, but it's mainly for kids or if a small 4ft deep pool thrills you.
The breakfast is incredibly basic, like boot camp level basic: scrambled eggs, sausage links, a waffle machine, a cereal bar, and some drinks. An espresso machine. A fruit stand offered a few bananas and apples. That's it!!! And a family from earlier had hoarded and taken all but one of the apples. This is not going to be a fancy breakfast or even one that offers a wide variety of things such as grits, ham, bacon, sliced fruit of various kinds, crepes, French toast, pastries, croissants, cookies, or any of that. You will be having scrambled eggs, sausage links, and a waffle from the waffle maker if you are feeling fancy, but no fruit toppings or whipped cream for you on the waffle.
