Pleasant staff but the chair in the room stunk of mold, there were water stains on the ceiling, the ceiling above the shower was bulging and the only way to get the floor lamp to work was by wiggling the cord in the outlet.

We were in Syracuse from Canada on August 10th to catch an early morning JetBlue flight from SYR, so we arrived just after 3:30AM (we needed to be at the airport for 4AM). Our flight unfortunately got delayed for a day so the airline booked us in at this hotel. We were already in New York when we heard about the cancellation so it's not like we could've just gone back home. We arrived at the hotel and when we rang the bell for the front desk, the lady came from the back already glaring at us for being there. We told her we had a room booked for us and that we were there to check in. All she did was point at the "check in at 3PM" sign (yes, didn't say a word, didn't even approach the desk, just pointed). We told her our situation and that we had nowhere else to go but all she said was "check in is at 3:00PM, come back then" and sent us away. We ended up needing to call up another hotel and book in there so we wouldn't be left stranded in Syracuse for the next 12 hours. We never came back to fulfill our check in because when we arrived at the hotel initially, we were already stressed by our flight delay and this did nothing more than add to the stress. While I do understand hotel policies exist for a reason (which is why I didn't put up a fight here), when you are a partner hotel for an airline, it might help to be a little kinder to guests/delayed passengers coming to your hotel. My husband and I would've been happy to pay for another night if that was necessary because at that point we had been driving all night and just needed a place to stay. Leaving guests stranded in the middle of the night when you are at a pitch black fairgrounds is truly bad business practice and I hope moving forward a policy can be created on how to support potential guests when they are coming to you in an extraneous circumstance.

I stayed here recently. Checked in late at night, and the receptionist was VERY rude and unhelpful. I genuinely don’t know why she gave so much attitude to a stranger because I treated her st first with nothing but respect, but her behavior started to wear on me, and that’s saying something because we interacted for less than 30 minutes. First red flag was that the elevator wasn’t working (talking to another guest confirmed that the elevator HAS BEEN broken with no attempts to fix it), and when I politely asked if she could help me at least get my luggage to the stairs (not even asking to carry them up) because I was by myself with several bags in the car, she rudely said, „No, that’s not what I’m saying. The elevators are out of order, so you need to carry them up yourself.“ I thought she misheard me, so I politely repeated my question, but turns out she did hear me right the first time because she gave an even ruder response: „That‘s your own risk. I can’t do anything.“ I can understand if you don’t want to help someone, and I don’t necessarily expect help when I ask, but her tone was so rude and condescending that I can’t even blame that on her working the night shift. The rooms were kind to gross; lots of missed hair around the bathroom and musty walls. Breakfast and checkout was a real piece of work. I came back to the front desk a with a good attitude because I treated last night as the past, but the same lady, although in a little better mood, still had that condescending tone and miffed attitude while I tried to do the checkout procedure. Breakfast basically has nothing; literally the water AND juice AND yogurt were out of order, and the food options and quality were mid at best, which I can deal with. The dysfunctional drinks, especially water, had me baffled, because talking to other guests (one which were the same ones that told me about the elevator), the machines have been out of order for a while too! So, basically nothing works, and the excuse you get is that the building runs on low power.

We were travelling a distance & decided to stop overnight to break up the journey. We booked this hotel online, which turns out is in the middle of nowhere. We walked into the lobby, and no one was behind the front desk. We didn’t realize the group of people chitty chatting in the lobby actually worked there until someone finally came over to help us. In trying to get our baggage through the front door, the handicap button didn’t work for the automatic door opener so we had to wrestle our luggage through, getting hit in the back with the heavy door closing. The elevator smelled like pot & there was a dirty hand towel on the floor. We were assigned to a room on the second floor. Coming off the elevator, we felt like we were walking into a sauna, the hallway was so hot and humid. The room they gave us was a complete disaster!! Garbage all over the dresser and floor, beds stripped and in a jumble, garbage on the bathroom counter and an empty toilet paper roll. We immediately left to get another room. The staff weren’t exactly friendly. Our second room was on the first floor where be A/C actually worked or was on & that room was fine. The location, when the State Fair isn’t on, is remote. If you don’t eat at the expensive restaurant in the hotel, you have to travel at least 10 minutes to find other options. Breakfast was fine but the yogurt machine was broken. We were disappointed as we’ve never had a bad stay at a Best Western. Unfortunately, we won’t be staying here the next time we’re travelling through.
