  I did not know where else to convey my experience since I cannot find a contact for the church or a social media page. I am one of several people in the neighborhood that feed the cats. All of the cats are vaccinated and spayed. Today I had a run in with one of the members of your church, he was obviously only a messenger so I cannot blame him fully for the anger he displayed. I have heard from my neighbors how rude a couple of people were to them about the cats but this is my first experience! There were two cat houses that are part of the NYC TNR program. Someone else in our neighborhood got permission from the owner of the building (building that is next to church and the houses are not on the church's property) to put houses there to keep the cats warm in the winter and have a shelter at night. The houses were there for several years, then a few weeks ago someone threw them out! I did not want to assume someone from the church threw them out because I as a Christian woman did not want to believe it. I went and bought two new houses and asked the same owner of the building to put it there. The church goer who I spoke to today when I went to put straw in the houses (to keep the cats warm) informed me that a police officer that goes to this church threw out the houses because the Bishop does not want the cats there. I was so shocked because I respect the church and could not believe what I was hearing, he said the Bishop has a problem with the cats and does not want them there. He is telling me that it is illegal to feed the cats, and they tried to get rid of the cats and that we are not allowed to feed them. Clearly he is misinformed because the officer would have known feral cats are protected by NYC animal rights and it is not illegal to feed them. They are part of a TNR program that are protected under the Mayor's Alliance of NYC and if anyone tries to harm them or dispose of them there is a law in NYC that this is a crime. There is a strip of land about two feet in length that separates a private building from the church that the houses are on, that property and the owner of that space gave permission for the houses to be there so it is theft for anyone to throw out the houses. I was visibly shaken after speaking to the gentleman. What an aggressive act to get rid of their homes and to be condescending about them. I am one of many people who feed these cats, they are part of the community and have been there long before this congregation moved in. I will be filing a complaint in the morning with the Mayor’s Alliance for NYC’s Animals about my occurrence and if anything happens to the cats we will know who did it. I am so honestly disappointed and heartbroken that the Pastor is so angry about these cats. I saw in the comment below that someone named JD said the cats are interfering with the church goers entering the church. JD I mean no disrespect at all but this is absolutely untrue. The cats hide when there are people at the church, so no they are not stopping people from going in the church and cannot affect people's allergies unless someone is touching the cats directly. They are up to date on their vaccinations and when I feed the cats I clean up right after so there are no plates or mess to respect the church and their space. I hope we can all live peacefully and be kind to one another animals included. God bless everyone, Diane

  We love the cats, but if the cats are preventing some children of God from entering the premises, then the bishop will not permit this. He and we invite all men, women, and children (not cats) to come and hear a message that is centered on Christ, a message that will change lives, a message that provides hope, a message that will fill your doubts with assurance, and a message that will calm your fears and provide you with self-confidence to press on with an increase of faith so the hearers and doers of His word can persevere with strength and endure to the end of their mortal journey. I have come to church here, but please understand that people sometimes have a critical allergy to cats. So what about them?
