I am a Canadian customer and visited this store over the weekend with my 12-year-old daughter. Upon entering, we were informed of a promotion offering an additional 20% off purchases over $150.
I selected a set priced at $91 and a T-shirt for $39. My daughter chose a bag that was clearly labeled at $89, and she specifically asked a staff member to confirm the price. The staff member confirmed that the bag was indeed $89.
At checkout, the manager on duty, Jessica, scanned the items and the total came to over $300. I immediately pointed out that the bag was labeled at $89 and was not at its regular price. Instead of resolving the issue professionally, Jessica began calling staff to remove the mislabeled white tags and told me she would not honor the displayed price.
I calmly explained that by law when an item is mislabeled, the customer should be given the labeled price. At that point, Jessica began repeatedly calling me “nasty” in front of my daughter. I asked her to stop, explaining that this was unacceptable, but she continued to repeat the insult six or seven times.
She then called her supervisor and claimed that the item was displaced, not mislabeled. I clarified that the item was mislabeled, not misplaced. Despite this, she again called me “nasty,” and her assistant, Bella, joined in and called me “rude.”
I was extremely hurt and shocked by this behavior. My daughter was visibly terrified, and I felt intimidated and afraid to respond further, especially as I was not in my own country. No customer — and certainly no child — should ever be subjected to verbal insults over a pricing disagreement.
I sincerely hope that someone from head office reads this review and responds. I also hope that appropriate action is taken regarding the unprofessional and disrespectful conduct of Jessica, the manager, and Bella, her assistant.
