This was my first time visiting the Van Cleef & Arpels boutique on Fifth Avenue, as I was looking for a bracelet.
I was warmly welcomed as soon as I walked by security guard, and the host smiled, which made for a great first impression.
Unfortunately, my experience with the sales advisor was completely different. After I explained what I was looking for, she simply said, “I’ll wait for you while you browse,” remained seated, and only got up later to retrieve a couple of pieces. I went upstairs to continue looking around, and when I came back downstairs, she had only brought the exact two bracelets I had pointed out myself. There were no additional suggestions or alternatives.
I mentioned that I love rose gold, yet she never showed me matching rings, earrings, or any complementary pieces. There was no effort to build a conversation, learn my preferences, or even ask my name. The entire interaction felt impersonal and uninterested.
Sadly, I didn’t feel appreciated as a customer and she made me feel uncomfortable.
Based on my experience, I would not recommend this location. If you’re looking for exceptional service that matches the brand’s reputation, you may want to visit another boutique.
