I recently graduated from law school after working full time and supporting myself throughout the entire journey. It was one of the hardest things I have ever done, and it is an accomplishment I am incredibly proud of. To celebrate, I decided to treat myself to my first luxury handbag, the YSL Sac de Jour. It was not an impulse purchase. I spent weeks researching luxury bags before deciding on this one because I wanted something timeless that I could carry to work as I begin my legal career and as a reminder of everything I sacrificed to get here.
After purchasing the bag, I left it in its original packaging while I focused on preparing for the California Bar Exam. I sat for the exam in July 2026, and afterward I finally unpacked it and loaded it with nothing more than my laptop, a folder containing copies of my résumé, and a few work documents.
Within minutes of carrying it, the bag slipped from my shoulder because the stitching came apart. I was stunned. This was not the result of misuse or excessive weight. It was essentially the bag’s first real use.
Given the reputation and price of Saint Laurent, I had every reason to believe the issue would be handled professionally. Instead, my experience at the boutique was disappointing from the moment I walked in. Rather than feeling like a valued customer, I felt as though I had to defend myself for bringing in what appeared to be a defective product. The interaction was passive aggressive and unnecessarily confrontational, leaving me with the impression that I would need to have a brand new luxury bag repaired elsewhere at my own expense.
The bag was ultimately taken for evaluation, and I was told I would receive follow up communication. That never happened. Despite my efforts, I have been unable to get an update or even reach someone who can tell me what is happening.
What should have been a meaningful purchase celebrating years of hard work has turned into an incredibly frustrating experience. At this point, I feel less like a valued customer and more like someone who spent thousands of dollars only to be ignored when something went wrong.
This has been anything but a luxury experience. If this review reaches someone at Saint Laurent who can provide an update and take ownership of this situation, I would genuinely appreciate the opportunity to have this resolved.
