If you make a mistake, just own up to it!
I walked in today and the gentleman behind the counter did my whole order correctly, until I asked for chipotle sauce. Instead of putting chipotle sauce, he put on sweet onion teriyaki and I watched him pause like he realized what he just did, then he wrapped my sandwich up very quick. To ease into it, I asked if they changed the Baja Chipotle recipe because that looks like another sauce. He said it is the same thing, more southwest, and he sent me on my way.
I didn’t plan on eating at the store, but I intentionally opened my sandwich, took a bite, and let him know that it is not the same, and asked him to remake my sandwich which he did. Because I had teriyaki chicken, he made a comment making me aware that the teriyaki sauce is made with sweet onion sauce. I did not acknowledge his comment, because acknowledging would have caused me to ask for a refund. I just wanted to get home after a long day.
What annoyed me more is that he had an earphone in, and probably did not hear me, and didn’t care enough to at least turn to me to say “hey, I messed up so I’m going to make you another sandwich,” or “hey, I didn’t hear you.” Nope, just tried to play it off like I’m dumb and that I didn’t see what he just did.
Even funnier, I asked for my receipt and there was permanent marker on it. Not sure what he was covering up because my total came out to what it was, but it just looks like someone cannot own up to their mistakes.
