I had a very disappointing experience at the Subway inside Albany Medical Hospital (Store #67041) around 12:55 PM. The employee who started preparing my sandwich selected bread that had been resting against the wall. Because the wall appeared dirty, I politely asked if he could replace it with a clean piece of bread. He initially refused and repeatedly told me “no,” and I had to insist before he finally changed it. During this interaction he was dismissive and told me that I didn’t have to eat at Subway and that I should go somewhere else.
Because of his behavior, I asked another employee to finish preparing my order, which she did without any issue. However, when I got to the register and asked another employee if she was the manager, she hesitated and then claimed the employee who had been insulting me was the manager. She then accused me of being in the store the day before, which was incorrect. I am only at Albany Medical once a week for clinicals. Despite explaining that, she continued insisting I had been there the day before.
The entire interaction was uncomfortable and unprofessional. Customers should not have to argue just to receive clean food preparation, nor should they be treated with disrespect. Proper food handling, professionalism, and customer service should be a priority—especially in a hospital setting.
I ultimately chose not to complete my purchase and left. I hope management addresses these issues so other customers are treated with the respect they deserve.
