I did not have a great customer service experience here. I waited in line for about 20 minutes while the one woman (no name tag) at the counter helped the man in front of me with a complicated package issue. The woman at the counter was friendly and helpful to this man, so I naively thought she would be friendly and helpful to me. Nope. When I went up to the counter to discuss how to ship my packages, I greeted her and tried to tell her about the special labelling, weighing and handling they required. I had done most of this myself and just needed her to weigh the packages, enter the recipient addresses to create shipping labels and pay for the shipping cost through a work account. I needed the package weights to so I could record the weights on the special packaging labels on the outside of the packages. She did not greet me back and just kind of stared at me, looked annoyed and said nothing at first. I put the first box on the scale and asked if she could give me the weight. She gave an irritated sigh and said I could look at the scale and weigh the packages myself while she helped the next customer, a man who was picking up a very large box. Observing her help this man was like seeing a completely different person; she was immediately friendly, polite and helpful to him, engaged in friendly conversation with him and gave him his box cheerfully. Once she was finished with him, she came back and went right back to being cold, robotic and unfriendly with me. It was such a strange, stressful experience. The packages I was shipping (for work) were quite expensive and complicated for me to ship and I literally did all the work except type the recipient names into the FedEx system and bill my work account. I remained calm and polite the entire time and the woman remained unhelpful, unfriendly and a little rude at times. I'm guessing this lady is the same one many, many other customers have complained about here. She's clearly worked at this location for several years and is capable of providing helpful, friendly customer service. I saw her do so with the man in front of me and the man who was behind me. I was not demanding or difficult, was prepared and did almost everything myself, except the part of the shipping process I couldn't. But she obviously picks and chooses who she decides to be good at her job with and obviously I wasn't a chosen one to bestow her customerly benevolence on. And clearly the management at this particular location doesn't care that she is basically rude to some customers and kind and helpful to others. I plan to avoid ever using this location for anything ever again.
I would suggest that the management at this location give this particular woman some coaching on providing better customer service to every person she deals with (instead of just the ones she mysteriously decides to be courteous and helpful to). But, since she's had so many complaints about her over several years and has clearly not changed her attitude, it seems highly unlikely that management will do anything stop her from being rude and unhelpful to people she deems are unworthy of good customer service.
