(Unfair treatment by staff)
I bought a car jack and jack oil here. I returned them three days later, and both items were unopened and unused. When I walked into the store with my receipt and items, I advised the staff that I was returning them and that they were unopened and unused. As any store would do, I expected them to verify whether the products were actually unused, but it was the attitude and false accusations against me that were unacceptable.
I believe the employee’s name is Robin. Right when I walked in to return the items, she said “we’ll see about that,” assuming that both items had been used.
After she verified that the jack wasn’t used or opened, she looked at the oil container and said “nope, you used this, we can’t take it.” She claimed there was supposed to be a certain seal on the bottle without verifying that statement herself.
I explained to her multiple times that she was mistaken and that the item was in the same condition as when I received it from the store.
I had to go to the oil aisle myself to find the exact oil I had bought and bring it to the front desk to prove that what I was saying was correct.
After a male staff member confirmed that I was telling the truth, Robin took my oil and compared it to the store-bought oil, weighing them side by side because she still didn’t believe me.
After all of that, I expressed to both staff members that the way I was treated was unfair. Robin didn’t care and walked away as the male staff member completed my return.
I know I wasn’t dressed in a suit and tie when I walked into the store, but that doesn’t mean I should be treated like a criminal or have to go out of my way to prove that no items were used — especially when I had the receipt and both items were unopened and in their original packaging.
I was also told I was lying about the oil until I had to walk to an aisle, grab another one, and prove it to their faces. The day shift staff needs retraining on implicit bias and simple customer service. No disrespect on the company but this was the worst experience I have had at an auto shop yet.
