Edit: Revised to 4 star from 2. Appreciate the hotel taking the appropriate action and taking it with seriousness it warrants.
It's a nice hotel but beware the room doors don't latch if you just let them close on their own. We had someone try to enter our room while we were in it! They were going down the hallway pushing on doors looking for rooms that weren't latched. So obviously this vulnerability is known to criminals. This is a serious safety issue that should be addressed.
We found it! The BEST Western! Plus… (Plus what?) Out of all the Westerns, we finally found the best one.
We have a king suite with jacuzzi. Extremely spacious bed and living area, but phone booth-sized bathroom. I’m not Super Man.
Had a nice view of the interior of the hotel that overlooked Saturday night’s party. Not ideal for those staying in the hotel looking to sleep at night.
The yelling in the hallway by other guests on a Saturday night isn’t really the fault of the hotel, but we sure wish they would monitor such behavior a little closer.
Soooo many penguins in the pool. Too many penguins.
If this is truly the BEST Western, there is still room for significant improvement.
The Best Western Plus in White Bear Lake is a must stay location, if you are looking for comfortable lodging and great food all in one spot. Staff is very friendly and accommodating. Summers are extra special with the roof top bar to close out the night. Highly recommend staying at this hotel, or at least stopping in for some awesome food.

Spent a great night there after a lovely 80th bday party onsite. The party was poolside with the buffet in a room nearby. The food was delicious and the location was very nice. The rooms were tastefully updated…much better than your usual Best Western. Instead of a bathtub, our room had a large glass shower.
We hv also had family Christmas parties there.
All in all, I highly recommend.
Our trip from Puerto Rico (party of 50 approx.) was to attend a soccer tournament in Blaine for a week, and although the distance was approximately 20 minutes from the venue, it was worth staying in this place. My room was very nice, the breakfast very good, but what stood out for me was the service and attention they gave us. Reception, housekeeping, breakfast service and Bill (the owner) who was every day at the premises looking (and asking everyone) for what else can they do to make our experience in the hotel even better. Nice place, nice people. 👍🏼
