My wife and I stayed here for a couple days for a vacation. This was our first time here. We enjoyed the balcony River view very peaceful. There were a couple things however we did not care for. After driving about 3 1/2 hours from the Metro Detroit area, I went to the front desk to see if we could have an early check-in. The lady at the front counter was not very friendly with me and told us that we needed to come back in about an hour, and then helped the next guest and basically ignored me from there. After returning another gentleman that helped was very friendly! The only other thing I would say the whole hotel could work on is possibly giving their rooms a new paint job as there was some chipped paint on the walls . And maybe updating or fixing up the boardwalk, which was a little rickety. Other than that, the water pressure in the shower was excellent! It’s an It’s a great place to stay if you want to go over to Mackinac city or Rogers City. Lots of great local restaurants. And the staff was very accommodating.

Very nice hotel — the lobby area was modern, clean and desk clerk was friendly and helpful. Our room was large, comfortable bed, really good shower. Loved that room had back door leading to outside, small, patio with chairs, facing the St Mary’s River, beautiful!

Fantastic stay after a long Northern Michigan camping trip! We were more than ready for a comfortable place to relax and recharge, and the Best Western in Cheboygan was exactly what we needed.
A huge shoutout to Nandi, who was incredibly helpful, friendly, and welcoming. He made everything super easy from the moment we arrived and genuinely made us feel taken care of. After being on the road and camping for several days, that level of hospitality was very much appreciated.
The entire stay was smooth, comfortable, clean, and stress-free. It was the perfect way to finish off an awesome trip through Northern Michigan.
Thank you again, Nandi, for being such a huge help and making our stay so easy. We will absolutely stay here again whenever we’re back in the Cheboygan area. Highly recommend!
We stayed for one night and had a pleasant stay. The rooms are very basic but were clean. The front desk staff were very nice. Beds weren’t the most comfortable in my opinion but were ok for a night. Hotel is very expensive for what it is, but I gotta say we enjoyed our stay and enjoyed the view from the room and breakfast area. The selection at breakfast was great and was so pleased to see biscuits and gravy…. For a non US resident this a definitely a highlight as we don’t get this at home! Although we didn’t use the pool it looked clean and had nice window views out to the river. Overall a decent hotel but it is on the pricey side. Would definitely stay again!

We stayed at this Best Western last weekend (after Best Western commented on another review stating they would fix the issues) and I’m here to tell you - it has not changed.
We also had a large group for the weekend and collectively spent approximately $10,000 on this MOTEL (read: it is NOT a hotel) and our rooms were gross. We paid almost $300/night, which made this even more upsetting. What you’re going to get at this motel is what I’d expect to pay not a penny over $120/night.
Crumbs at the corners of the bed and built up dirt on the floors in the bathroom. The wipes in the gym were dry (which I did not discover until AFTER my workout) so I’m sorry to whoever worked out there after me, the machines did not get cleaned. The pool was cloudy and smelled strongly of chlorine. I did witness someone testing it, but I’m sure he has no idea what’s going on with that pool and just shocks it every night to try and get it under control (tip: take the water to a pool store for testing and then use Ai to understand how to fix the levels)
The general manager was accommodating and kind, she did go out of her way to dry our towels and folded them (which was AMAZING!) but her housekeeping staff and front desk staff need to be retrained. The guy who stocked breakfast and cleaned the pool: he was also working hard and friendly. For the rest: Front desk: smile, people!!! Be a little bit more friendly, you are the front of the house after all. Housekeeping: clean the rooms!! When you clean a room during a guest stay - do more than swap towels and empty the trash. Wipe down the counters and other surfaces, vacuum the floors, make the beds.
Overall, this motel is in dire need of a facelift but it not to the point where it should be condemned. Some deep cleaning and staff training would turn this into a quaint little spot to stay.
