I had one of the most chaotic delivery mix ups of my life today, and the FedEx team handled it with more patience than I probably deserved. It began with a missed delivery notice taped to my door. I had ordered a live fish, so naturally I assumed the worst: my fish had arrived, needed a signature, and was now somewhere in FedEx limbo.
I had signed up for text alerts and received absolutely nothing. My tracking still claimed the package was chilling in New Jersey, which only added to my confusion. So I did what any panicked fish parent would do, I flew to the local FedEx facility right before closing.
Paul listened as I rattled off everything from my "missing fish" to the incorrect tracking information. He stayed incredibly kind, professional and understanding. Paul and his coworker (I'm so sad I didn't catch her name) stayed late, reassured me, and did everything they could to help track down what I thought was a live animal.
We waited for the truck. And Waited. And Waited. I paced. I apoligized. I considered abandoning my mission. Paul reassured me that they would get me my package.
Finally, the truck arrived. Paul walked out holding… an envelope.
An envelope.
That’s when the universe decided to humble me. My “urgent, live animal delivery” was actually just my replacement credit card. Paul asked for the fish tracking number, and when I pulled it up, the truth hit EVEN HARDER: “Arriving by USPS.”
Not only was I tracking the wrong package, I wasn’t even at the right shipping company.
I was (and still am) mortified, but Paul laughed alongside me, trying his best to assure me mistakes happen. He didn’t make me feel ridiculous, even though I absolutely was. He and his coworker stayed 45 minutes past closing to help me solve a problem that turned out to be entirely my own creation.
Their kindness, professionalism, and patience turned a stressful (and slightly hilarious) disaster into a genuinely positive experience. Huge thank you to both of them. & sorry again, Paul.
