This is exactly what you hope a neighborhood business feels like.
The UPS Store here truly feels like a family-run, take-care-of-your-neighbors kind of place. Every time I walk in with a question, an idea, or one of my slightly unusual projects, the answer is always easy: “Yep, we can help you with that.” No hassle, no making things complicated, just friendly people who genuinely want to help.
A special shoutout to Chris, who went above and beyond helping me create something really special for our new group of 6th graders starting middle school. He helped me get everything printed, double-sided, laminated, and looking exactly the way I hoped. It was a small project that meant a lot to me and the kids, and Chris treated it like it mattered to him too.
That kind of service is why you support local businesses. They know the neighborhood, they know their customers, and they take care of people.
Great people. Great service. Zero headaches. And Chris, thank you for helping a dad make the first day of middle school a little more special for some awesome kids!
Couldn’t recommend this UPS Store more. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

Chris was absolutely amazing! He was efficient and handled all of my requests! All staff was professional and store was neat and clean! I will refer family and friends to this store.
I came in today for the first time because the fort smallwood location was closed, I only had a drop off package but there was a long line. Evelyn was quick to notice that and helped me scan my package quickly and saved me from waiting! Thank you!

I originally wrote a five-star review for this UPS Store several years ago when Billy and Ken owned it. Unfortunately, I no longer feel that review reflects my experience, so I'm updating it.
I've been a regular customer here for several years, often visiting multiple times each week. Under the previous owners, the atmosphere was welcoming. The staff was consistently friendly, and I genuinely felt like a valued customer rather than just another transaction.
After Mr. and Mrs. Patel took over, things gradually changed. At first they seemed very pleasant, but over time I've found the experience to be much less welcoming. I often feel rushed, and the interactions with both the owners and staff have become noticeably less friendly and personable.
One experience that stood out occurred when I brought in a package that UPS had delivered in the rain. Because the box needed to be retaped before it could be returned, Mr. Patel commented—in front of other customers—that tape costs money, then charged me for the tape used to reseal the package. That struck me as an unusual way to handle what seemed like a routine customer service issue.
On another visit, I used the store's tape to seal a package while preparing it for shipment. I thought I was helping the cashier by getting the package ready while she assisted other customers. Instead, I was criticized by the manager, Christopher, who told me I could hurt myself...with a roll of tape. While I understand businesses have safety policies, the interaction felt unnecessarily confrontational.
Most recently, I observed Mr. Patel taping another customer's package without charging her. That made my earlier experience even more confusing, as the policy appeared to be applied inconsistently.
Today's visit only reinforced my impression. Julio, as on many previous visits, was polite enough, but his demeanor was cold and impersonal. He made me feel like I was an interruption rather than a customer. After years of visiting this store several times each week, I've come to see this as part of a broader pattern rather than an isolated experience.
The biggest difference isn't any one incident—it's the overall atmosphere. The store used to feel warm and welcoming. Today, the employees and owners often seem disengaged, and unfortunately that comes across in the way customers are treated.
What disappointed me even more was the response to my review. Rather than acknowledging how these interactions affected a long-time customer, management focused on justifying individual policies about tape and safety. My review was never about whether those policies exist. It was about how customers are treated. A simple acknowledgment that my experience fell short of expectations would have gone much further than a list of explanations.
Good customer service includes accountability. Sometimes customers don't expect perfection—they simply want to know they've been heard. Unfortunately, I didn't get that impression from management's response.
I don't enjoy leaving negative reviews, especially for a business I've supported for years. I genuinely hope this feedback is taken constructively because I would much rather update my review again in the future with a positive experience than continue to feel like a long-time customer who is no longer welcome.
