I just wanted to send a quick "thank you" review to the store for today. Although my mother was not a customer, they allowed her to use the restroom. She is handicapped and some times when a senior has to go...they have to "GO". Thank you again for allowing her the use of your restroom.

I shop at Advance Auto all the time in VA and prior to yesterday I've always been a satisfied customer even when there was an issue with the product that was purchased. But this time at the Parkville location was anything but that. I came in and purchased one of the high dollar headlights for my vehicle. Changed the bulb(wore gloves and everything when handling the bulb). The bulb ended up being defective(appeared to be in perfect condition down to the pack). It was late that day so I didn't have time to take it back, get another and put the bulb in so decided to wait a day, after all I still had my receipt. Came back after work to return the defective bulb and was told by the two associates they couldn't take it back for a exchange or refund because it was opened...??? I told them how would I know the product was defective if I didn't open it. They were nice about the situation but kept saying it was above their pay grade to issue a refund or return on this defective bulb and that I'd have to come back tomorrow morning when the store manager(Pat) was there.(they came across as if I wouldn't be getting my exchange/refund) at that point I went to Walmart and purchased the same brand of bulb and put it in because I was a lil upset. Came back this morning to get my refund for the defective bulb and literally was told no. I explained to him the bulb was defective and he reiterate he couldn't take it back because it was opened. AGAIN how would I know its defective if I dont open it. So he holds the bulb up and looks at it then marches over to the work counter with the batter charger to "test" the bulb by putting current to it. Guess what happened NOTHING BECAUSE IT'S DEFECTIVE!!!...Throughout this whole process he was short, and seemingly unwilling to want to help with this issue even though he finally gave me my refund back on an item that I literally purchased the day before, had my receipt and I forgot to mention it was under warranty. This was my first time meeting Pat and I was polite and respectful but from the moment I told him I was there for a refund on a defective bulb you would've thought Pat knew me and I tried to return things to him 2 days a week for the past 10 years. I'm not sure how long he's been the store manager but he's overdue for some customer service training. And again the bulb is under warranty, I have the original receipt and the bulb is defective. If testing the bulb is part of the policy great no problem test it. I wouldn't say it's defective if it wasn't. Completely unnecessary and it make for bad business. I hope a regional manager sees this review. Below is a snapshot of what google said before I went back to talk to the store manager because I wanted to be sure.
