I’ve stayed at this Best Western in the past, but unfortunately this will likely be my last stay. The biggest downside is that the hotel is very outdated. The furniture looked old, there was peeling paint in some areas, and the room wasn’t as clean as I expected. The overall condition of the property could use some updating. That said, the price is reasonable for the value, especially considering its close proximity to Washington, DC. I also want to give credit to the front desk employee who assisted me. She was extremely nice, professional, and genuinely tried to help with my situation. I accidentally booked the wrong dates through Hotels.com and had to make a second reservation for the dates I actually needed. I understand the original reservation was non-refundable and booked through a third-party site. However, I contacted both the hotel and corporate customer service to see if a one-time exception could be made. The customer service agent tried to help, which I appreciated, but ultimately the hotel would not make an exception. Because I couldn’t get a refund, I ended up making another trip to the hotel the following week just to use the reservation so I wouldn’t waste the money I had already paid. Overall, the price and location are good, but the outdated property, cleanliness issues, and reservation situation left me disappointed, especially as a returning guest. I appreciate the front desk staff who tried to assist me, but unfortunately, I won’t be staying at this location again.

Very unfriendly front desk staff member. Argumentative and impatient. My wife was sick and needed some water to take medication and the reception had some water next to me but refused to share one. Refused to break some notes for vending machine purchase and refused to sell the water he had to us. I had to drive miles away to buy some water.

This place is a gem! I'm from this area and was slightly apprehensive abt booking here. But, it's improved so much, the area has gone thru an amazing revitalization. That said, from the moment I arrived I noted a very clean environment. A cool gift shop and a well kept pool. It's an older hotel that's been loved on, well kept and updated. Nathanial checked me in, he was awesome! Check in was quick, no surprises. And customer service overall has been good from every employee I encountered. My room was clean, all linens spotless! My fridge and microwave were clean and well kept. I got the breakfast buffet, small price to pay for what you get. They have everything you could want for breakfast. Everything was hot and fresh. There is an omlette station where they make your omelette to order. Everything was really good. Comfy bed, great channel selections. I'm so impressed. I will defintely be back when I come again.

Prepaid Reservation Denied—Then Police Were Called Because I Asked Questions I arrived at this Best Western with a confirmed reservation that had already been paid through Super.com. Instead of calmly investigating the reservation, third-party virtual card, or payment-authorization issue, the front-desk employee repeatedly stated in front of other guests that “my card” was declining. I showed proof that the money had already been deducted from my account and explained that the hotel was not supposed to charge my personal card for the prepaid room. I asked straightforward questions: Was the reservation in the system? What virtual card was she referring to? Was the hotel waiting for authorization from Super.com? Was there any procedure for resolving the issue? I did not scream, threaten anyone, damage property, or create a safety disturbance. I remained controlled and continued asking how the problem could be resolved. This employee had checked me in on previous occasions and acknowledged that she recognized me as a returning guest who regularly booked through legitimate third-party services. The hotel refused to give me anything in writing. When I explained that I needed to document the interaction so I could recover my money, the employee called the police. That decision crossed a serious line. As a Black woman, I cannot ignore the racial dimension and danger of turning a routine, nonviolent consumer dispute into an armed police encounter. Calling the police does not merely summon “assistance.” It brings armed government authority into a situation, with consequences that can become life-altering or deadly—especially for Black customers. I was asking questions about my own money and a prepaid reservation. There was no legitimate safety emergency. The matter required competent customer service, discretion, and basic problem-solving—not law enforcement. I stepped outside to avoid further escalation. The officers entered and later left without approaching, questioning, detaining, or instructing me to remain. Best Western Customer Care opened an incident regarding the property, and Super.com ultimately refunded my payment. Nevertheless, I was left stranded late at night without accommodations because the hotel and booking service failed to complete a transaction they had accepted. There is also a separate advertising concern. This property advertises free breakfast, but during my previous stays breakfast was approximately $11 per person, with guests required to present a meal-style ticket before sitting down or approaching the food. Guests may be confronted about the ticket if it is not immediately displayed. A breakfast requiring an additional payment is not free, and the advertising should clearly disclose the charge. What disturbed me most was not merely the failed reservation. It was the public discussion of an alleged payment problem, the refusal to provide documentation, the lack of basic hospitality, and the reckless decision to call armed police on a calm customer who continued asking reasonable questions. Black guests—and anyone booking through a third party—should document everything, confirm directly with the property before arriving, and understand that a confirmed prepaid reservation may not protect them from being publicly embarrassed or unnecessarily subjected to police involvement. I had stayed at this property before. I will never return. A hotel is supposed to provide hospitality. This experience provided humiliation, misinformation, failed service, and a dangerous escalation that should never have happened.

Staff was courteous friendly and attentive… the room on first appearance seemed suitable… but in abt 10 minutes in the issue arrived. Plug sockets need to be replaced… and circuits need to be checked… plugging in a phone and a flat iron and blowing out the power shouldn’t happen… when spoke to staff… power came cacophony on rather quickly…. Breakfast although not continental was good and the lady overseeing breakfast was nice…. However I highly doubt I would stay again… I would definitely check other options….
