This was the worst delivery service I have ever had. My mom (who has metastatic cancer and is disabled) and I ordered a recliner from Home Depot for someone in my family who is coming home from the hospital after having their leg amputated. The recliner was to be delivered to apartment 1B, which is on the back side of the building, and has its own personal door. We have never had an issue before, and any order with this apartment number has ALWAYS been delivered to their door. I had a feeling there might be an issue this time, so when I left for work at 7am, I made sure to leave a note smack dab in the middle of the door for the FedEx driver to make sure the order gets delivered to the BACKSIDE OF THE BUILDING AT APARTMENT 1B. Also, because of this weird gut feeling I had, we asked one of the neighbors to be on the lookout for FedEx. Due to my mom being disabled and not being able to lift anything and the fact that I would be at work during the estimated delivery time, I was really hoping that there would be no issues with this order. Around 210pm I get a notification that the box was delivered. I called the neighbor and asked her to look out to my mom's door and see if there was a box there, she said no. She came downstairs and to the front of the building and told me that the box was left in the middle of the sidewalk. I COULDN''T BELIEVE what I was hearing. Not only did they not even bother to AT LEAST bring it to the backside, they were SO lazy that the box was left ON THE SIDEWALK!!!! I wouldn't have even known about this had my neighbor not called me, since the driver didn't even leave proof of delivery via a picture. Looking at the picture my neighbor sent me; you can VERY CLEARLY see the note on the door which reads "DEAR FEDEX! APARTMENT 1B is on the BACK SIDE. Bring box there PLEASE!!!" As you can see, there is an Amazon package as well. This was for someone who lives in the front of the building and at LEAST Amazon didn't leave it on the SIDEWALK!!!! It took 20 minutes to reach a personw when I called FedEx to see if they could call the driver and ask him to return and bring the delivery to the right place (because I am at work until 5pm and don't want someone STEALING OUR DELIVERY FROM THE FREAKING SIDEWALK and my mom couldn't move it due to her disability.) They said that Home Depot would have to reach out to the driver to move the delivery. I called Home Depot, they looked into the issue and they reached out to FedEx, and FedEx told them they could not do anything about the issue. I cannot believe the level of incompetence and PURE LAZINESS of the driver, whose name is Matthew, according to the estimated delivery report from this morning. I am SO beyond frustrated that this had to happen. Who thinks that it's OKAY to leave an order IN THE MIDDLE OF THE SIDEWALK? Would the driver be OKAY with someone doing this to him, especially with a note CLEARLY asking the driver to do something? I hope that NONE of my deliveries EVER go to such a driver EVER again.
Thank you and goodbye.
