I’ve never been treated or humiliated like I was yesterday 8/25. A Black female staff member and I only describe her that way because she refused to give me her name —
was yelling at me over an issue with my packaging. I understand DHL has packaging requirements, but I don’t know every rule, and I was simply trying to understand what needed to be corrected.
At one point she asked if I wanted to leave my packages. I said yes, and she immediately yelled that they wouldn’t accept them. I told her, “I was simply answering your question. I didn’t realize it was rhetorical.” The way she spoke to me and treated me made me feel like a criminal instead of a longtime DHL customer asking for help. The blue-haired supervisor was also extremely disrespectful, refused to hear me out, and I was eventually accused of lying and asked leave in the most disrespectful way.
What really bothered me is that they seemed confused about the policy themselves, and instead of figuring it out, they took their frustration out on me. About one minute after I was told to leave , a DHL operator called me, apologized for the misunderstanding, and calmly explained everything. That’s all the employees needed to do in the first place.
I have no problem following DHL’s rules. I do have a problem with being yelled at, accused of lying, humiliated, and made to feel like a criminal simply because I didn’t know a packaging requirement. After years of using DHL, I never expected to be treated this way.
DHL, do better by hiring qualified staff. You’re a reputable company, let that reflect in your staff.
