I booked a reservation for my parents who were on a road trip and made a stop in Illinois to spend the night, and what initially was a pleasant stay has now been completely replaced by extreme disappointment due to their customer service.
On August 20th, I accidentally booked a reservation through Hotels.com for August 27–28 instead of August 20–21. I realized the mistake within an hour or two and immediately contacted Hotels.com to explain the situation and request that the cancellation penalty be waived. I was told they contacted Best Western, but Best Western declined the waiver.
Now what is especially frustrating is that I still booked another reservation at the SAME Best Western for August 20–21, which was the date I had originally intended. This was clearly an honest mistake made while booking on my phone, and I still chose to give this hotel my business for the intended stay.
I understand having a cancellation policy, but policies should also allow for reasonable discretion when there are extenuating circumstances!! I wasn't trying to cancel my stay and take my business elsewhere. I made an accidental date selection, caught it, and then booked the correct dates at the exact SAME hotel!!!
The fact that Best Western was unwilling to make even a one-time exception, despite the circumstances, was beyond me. This experience has certainly changed my impression of the brand and will not be booking with them again.
The room and hotel were both very nice and clean. The only downside was the noise at night, as the hotel is located right next to the highway. On the plus side, they had a solid breakfast spread downstairs, which was a great added convenience
I initially booked one room for Sunday, but learned I needed to add a second room, which I tried to do through the existing confirmation email online. Unfortunately the web didn't update with the correct date, and it was a mess. I called the Hotel, and the Manager Harry worked it all out for us. He was very helpful. The rooms were also quite clean, beds comfortable and surprisingly quiet despite the freeway nearby. Great restaurants and coffe/pastries in walking distance nearby.
Have to a bit off the trail in order to get to it from the highway. No pool, been closed for 3 years. The car chargers are super slow and $30 for 8 hours. Room was fine, cracked tile, humid, ac filters were so caked full of dust they were rattling. Can't adjust the blinds, but at least the bed was clean.
