I’ve been a customer of this UPS Store for over 5 years, and my most recent experience was completely unacceptable.
First, the overall professionalism in this location has seriously declined. One employee was walking around the store without shoes on, which is both inappropriate and unhygienic in a customer-facing business.
I came in to return a phone using a provided shipping label that clearly indicated the item should be packed by UPS. The associate handling my return seemed immediately annoyed that he had to tape the box. He began taping it incorrectly, despite the box having specific folding instructions. I even offered to help, and he refused.
What made this worse was the complete lack of communication. Instead of simply explaining any policy or potential charge for tape, he complained that he wasn’t “supposed” to use the company’s tape. This is a packing and shipping store—I have never, in five years, encountered an employee unwilling to tape a package. If there was a fee, that should have been clearly and respectfully communicated.
When I calmly explained that my instructions stated UPS would handle the packing, he demanded to see “proof,” which was both unnecessary and unprofessional. His tone became increasingly rude, and he eventually raised his voice at me.
The situation escalated further when he refused to provide my receipt. I had to ask multiple times before he finally handed it over, and even then, he said “are you done?” in a dismissive and disrespectful manner. As I was leaving, he sarcastically yelled “have a nice day,” and another employee made a comment about me within earshot.
This entire interaction was frustrating, disrespectful, and completely out of line for a business that is supposed to provide customer service. The staff demonstrated a lack of professionalism, poor communication, and an unwillingness to perform basic job responsibilities.
I expect much better from a business I’ve supported for years. This location needs serious improvement in both customer service and staff conduct.
