Unfortunately, I can’t give more than one star.
I initially went into the store to take advantage of the advertised $10 iPhone 16e promotion. I was quoted approximately $375 because the promotion supposedly included AirPods, and I was told the total would still be around $350 even if I declined them. That immediately raised concerns.
I ultimately decided on a $50 iPhone 14, brought my own device, and prepaid for two months of service. Based on the pricing available online, I expected my total to be around $220. Instead, I was shocked when the final charge came to $407.
After reviewing my receipt, which was emailed to me after the transaction. I discovered that I had been charged for two Cellhelmet speakers totaling over $200. When I questioned this, I was told that these SKUs had to be added in order to qualify for the phone discount. Having spent many years in the wireless industry myself, I can confidently say I have never heard of a promotion that requires customers to purchase two Bluetooth speakers in order to receive a discounted phone.
What is most concerning is that these charges were never clearly disclosed. I specifically asked what I was paying for, yet I was never informed that two Cellhelmet speakers were being added to my transaction. These were products I neither requested nor knowingly agreed to purchase. To make matters even more confusing, I never left the store with either speaker, so I am at a loss as to why I was charged for them in the first place.
The store manager was polite and professional on the surface, but the lack of transparency surrounding these charges raises serious concerns about the sales practices at this location. Customers should never discover hundreds of dollars in unexpected charges only after receiving their receipt, especially when they specifically asked for a breakdown of what they were paying for.
I have already contacted Unwired corporate via email and will be following up by phone. I hope they make this right by either refunding or crediting the charges that were added without my informed consent.
The customer service was friendly, but friendliness does not excuse misleading sales practices. I rarely leave reviews, but this experience was frustrating enough that I felt others should be aware. Thankfully, I remained calm and respectful in the store, but I was extremely upset after realizing I had been charged for products I never knowingly agreed to purchase and never even received.
Proceed with caution if you choose to do business here.
