I almost never leave negative reviews, but my experience at the Subway on S. Woodruff Ave. was frustrating from beginning to end.
I pulled up and was barely greeted. I was still very polite and made an effort to ask the employee how her day was. She took my order without asking for my Subway Rewards number. I noticed and asked if she could add it so I could receive my points. I was simply told that the order had already been put through, with no attempt to offer a solution for receiving the points.
I ordered a toasted BLT — just bread and bacon — and it was over $15. That was already pretty shocking for what I received.
I also ordered a Spicy Italian. After a few minutes, another employee asked me to pull forward. I said absolutely, but asked if I could please get my receipt so I could make sure I received my rewards points. Instead, my order was brought out and handed to me.
When I got home and opened everything, I discovered that my Spicy Italian was completely wrong. I received a smooshed sandwich with only pepperoni and salami on it.
I called the store and explained what happened. I was told I needed to drive all the way back with the incorrect sandwich. I explained that I don't live in the area and asked if I could send pictures instead. The employee gave me her personal phone number and asked me to send them. I did, and her response was essentially, “Wow, yep, I see that's wrong.”
I then sent a picture of my receipt so they could see exactly what I had ordered. I was then told that because I had also ordered chips and a drink, they couldn't refund the sandwich.
Okay… but what was the solution?
Once again, I was told I could drive all the way back to the store and have them make me another sandwich. I explained again that I don't live in the area and that I wasn't going to make another trip back because of an error that wasn't mine.
Eventually, I was offered a coupon for a free sandwich. Fine. I said that would work and asked if they could email it to me.
Nope.
Instead, I was asked for my home address so they could mail it to me. 🤦♀️
Seriously… what happened to basic customer service?
I understand that mistakes happen. I really do. The problem wasn't even the incorrect sandwich — it was the complete lack of effort to actually make the situation right in a reasonable way. Between the lack of greeting, not helping with my rewards points, paying over $15 for a very basic BLT, receiving the wrong sandwich, being asked multiple times to drive back despite explaining that I don't live nearby, and then having the “solution” turn into mailing a coupon to my home address… this was just ridiculous.
This was my first time at this location, and unfortunately, it will be my last.
For the price of the food, I expect better. For the customer service, I expect much better.
