I'll update this if they call me back. So the rooms have all been renovated and are quite nice, minus the very thin bathroom doors. Tile bathrooms and nice wood vinyl flooring in the rooms made everything feel clean. The evening staff we encountered was great too. Pool, hot tub, and game area are nice. But that's where the good ends. Our room's AC didn't work properly which we found out an hour after checking in (ran kids to pool immediately before it closed at 10pm). After maintenance verified it was broken, we packed up everything and moved across and down the hall. Guess what? AC didn't work in that room either. The night manager was awesome and walked up with me to another room to verify AC worked before moving us again. The maintenance lady in the evening was also very sympathetic and said we should be getting some sort of a refund after moving so much. When we checked out the next morning, the front desk staff took no accountability and simply said, "Well we don't know anything about that. So we can't do anything" rather than asking what happened and trying to understand. I questioned the response, the front desk worker talked to the manager on duty (who wouldn't come out to talk to me even though I was being incredibly kind and simply asking if they were going to do anything), and finally came back to me with a business card saying I'd have to call the GM. Called GM immediately but the mailbox is full. So I asked front desk about that and they ensured me the GM had a message they took down and would be calling me. Still no call and everytime I call, I get a "the mailbox is full" response. I wasn't seeking much. An acknowledgement that they put me and my family out, delayed our bedtime, and wanted to provide some sort of "peace offering" would have been enough. Instead, no accountability taken and avoidance is what I got. First time in a BW Plus. Last time in a BW Plus.
I stayed for almost a full week for work, the price was a bit rich for my blood but figured i’d still give them a shot. Well i walked in and there was a “crowd” of children literally jumping on top of game tables (pool, air hockey, etc) in the pool area, then to get to my room i had to walk right past the open pool area which was heavily smelling of chlorine. Once settled in, there were multiple children every night running and stomping thru the floors all hours of the night keeping me awake. i genuinely wasn’t pleased with my experience and am considering attempting to get a refund for the inconveniences of this.
Exceeded expectations! It's no secret based on my other reviews that I'm a lifetime status holder of another brand of hotels. Well, that brand was sold out during my stay in Dubuque and our travel contact arranged for us to stay at the Best Western Plus. It exceeded my, and my group's, expectations.
The staff and service were absolutely fantastic, so thank you. The rooms, while slightly older, were refurbished and most importantly SPOTLESS. The bathrooms were definitely a little more updated with LED light mirrors.
The 7 Hills Brewpub is connected to hit through the convention center walkway and provides a quick way to get a bite to eat and drink.
Lastly, for my fellow millennials, this place has some serious nostalgia-inducing vibes with the indoor courtyard and pool. This does make your room a little noisy, especially at night and during breakfast service, so bring a fan or white noise machine if you're a light sleeper.
It's not a hotel I'd go with my wife for our anniversary or a birthday, but it excels at what it was designed for: an affordable option for business travelers and families on-the-road needing to let their kids blow off some steam.

Huge place with the biggest pool area we have seen staying in hotels. They have strict rules and the lady working on Saturday night was not nice and very rude. I gave it good stars due to the lady on Sunday morning. She explained why rules were in place and she was kind. She listened and didn't just speak over you. I will come back just because of her. I believe her name was Kay. Breakfast was decent, could have fresh fruit and biscuits and gravy. Ice machine broken on second floor.

Enjoyed our stay, during the weekend it did get a bit busy and loud but staff worked very hard to make sure policies were followed. When you check in you’ll have pool rules to sign and the amount of adults that didn’t follow scares you in today’s world. Staff keep up the great work. You were doing a wonderful job.
Our room was not ready at check in time, they were understaffed but the staff there were nice and attentive. Carrie, really stood out, keeping us updated on our room, and had a huge smile everytime we walked through the lobby. Even when guest were not happy she tried her best. Our room was clean, only thing that was different was the fridge being off and door open when we arrived. Breakfast was filling, even though having biscuits and gravy as an option would have been nice. First Best Western that didn’t offer it.
I will be back and will bring many more family with me.
