The customer service at the Michael Kors store in Augusta Mall has been deplorable on all three of my visits over the past year. Unfortunately, each experience has been disappointing.
On my first visit, I ordered three dresses. One didn’t fit, so I went to exchange it for a different size. However, because the dress was no longer on sale, I was told I would have to pay more for the exact same dress. I decided to return it instead, and the associate was perfectly fine with that.
On my second visit, I attempted to return a dress that I simply didn’t like. I was told I couldn’t return it in the store. After calling customer service, I was informed that I absolutely could return it in person That meant making another trip to the mall just to complete a return that should have been straightforward.
Most recently, I purchased a jacket online with the assistance of an associate in the store. Unfortunately, she entered my address incorrectly, causing the package to be returned as undeliverable. After receiving my refund, I arranged to have the jacket sent to the store so I could purchase it in person. When I arrived, I was told the sale had ended and that I would have to pay more. After explaining that the shipping issue was caused by the incorrect address entered by the associate, I was told they would honor my original price as a “one-time courtesy”.
I’m sorry, but how is correcting a mistake made by your own employee a courtesy to the customer? I had to make multiple trips and spend additional time resolving an issue that I didn’t create.
After three disappointing experiences, I have to question the level of customer service at this location. You would think that a luxury brand like Michael Kors would place a high priority on customer satisfaction, especially when customers are making the effort to purchase and support the brand.
I rarely see people carrying Michael Kors handbags, although I do see people wearing the shoes and clothing. Regardless of the product, customer service should be a priority. Customers should feel valued, welcomed, and appreciated, not as though they’re inconveniencing the employees by asking for help.
At this point, I can honestly say that the service at this location has made me reconsider shopping at Michael Kors altogether. A little kindness, accountability, and common sense in customer service would go a long way.
