I had been waiting on a SiM card delivery from mint for over a week that was delivered through this FedEx location. The first attempt, this Tuesday was during the morning and I was at work. Fair enough.
The second attempt Wednesday was also missed but I was pulling into my apartment at the states a time of the attempt. Maybe I'd just missed them.
The third attempt yesterday? I was at home ALL DAY; had some work that needed to be done on my car so I called out of work for the day. I live in an 2-floor single building apartment complex with 16 units total, and a pedestrian gate and a front driver. My apartment specifically has direct view of both gates and I spent half the day outside and the other half inside at the window staring at this gate that is less than 30 feet from the single building of this complex, missing a full day of earnings, just to secure a small package that needed to be signed for and couldn't be picked up at the store or re-routed to another location. Their policy, not my choice.
My package was apparently supposed to come before 8pm. Nothing for the whole day. 8pm hits and suddenly The tracking says the attempt was made and they missed me, with a picture of the package in the driver's Van. The driver didn't even have the balls to step out of the van and pretend they tried the delivery at an actual building for the photo. I call FedEx customer support and tell them about this. They see it on their end and say, "it won't happen again. Tomorrow, we'll have the driver confirm the delivery beforehand. They'll message you before they arrive and knock on the door and confirm with us just to be certain it took place. We'll even deliver it at a time you give us specifically."
Ok. we'll see.
Fourth attempt. The package is supposed to come at 4pm, with a text when it's near and a knock on the door. I got off work an hour ago and am in my home staring out the window, waiting. 4pm comes, no driver. Hmph. "We'll see" , I said, and I was right. But I wait a little longer because the tracking hasn't updated yet.
5:30pm I see a FedEx van coming up the road. I'm glaring out my window watching to see what happens. The driver pulls up, as if they're about to park next to the gate, then immediately pulls off as if they're trying to escape something; accountability, probably. The pedestrian gate is wide open. There's no obstructions to entering the complex and reaching my apartment. Just a delivery driver actively refusing to do their job.
Tracking updates right after the van pulls off: "The recipient was unavailable", it says, without the driver ever having left the van. A big middle finger to whoever signed off on hiring them I guess, but me? I'm ready this time. I record them pulling away and failing to do their job (not to mention that the complex has 24/7 surveillance cameras that has seen them every other day that they may have done this).
I called up FedEx customer support again and tell them it's the second time that I'm certain of and I've got it on camera this time; it might even be a hat trick if I really think about the second attempt. They say this is unacceptable and will seek reprimand with the driver and NOW allow me to pick the package up from the store directly tomorrow since I was marked as "unavailable" multiple times.
I will definitely be giving them a few choice words on their driver to when I show up for my item tomorrow. If these are the kinds of people they hire, I'd rather my mail be delivered by a bird. At least it would actually attempt to do its job.
I called Mint and told them too so they know to never use this FedEx location again if these are the people that are supposed to get products to their customers. Absolutely mental behavior for an adult, especially one who is being paid to work.
