I am writing to report a very concerning experience at forest park plaza Subway location. Date of service 4-27-26
Upon entering the restaurant, there was a sign posted stating they were out of multiple types of bread. When I approached the counter, the employee (Bobbi) informed me they only had one 6-inch wheat, one Italian herbs and cheese, or flatbread remaining. This already indicated a lack of preparation.
As my sandwich was being made, another employee handling food left mid-preparation stating his finger was bleeding and that he needed a bandage. He returned shortly after and resumed preparing food. This raised serious concerns regarding sanitation and food safety.
When I requested mayo, the employee used an empty bottle, threw it aside, grabbed another empty bottle and threw that as well, then went to the back to retrieve more. Bobbi then stated loudly that they only had one bag of mayo left. The entire process appeared disorganized and unprofessional.
During my visit, I also witnessed another customer being told she could not add olives to a protein wrap or even get olives on the side, despite offering to pay extra. This seemed unreasonable and not customer-friendly.
Tensions escalated when the employee returned and yelled loudly about whether my sandwich needed mayo, slamming items in frustration. Bobbi then told him to go out the back door. This behavior was uncomfortable and inappropriate for a customer environment.
While checking out, I informed the cashier I wanted a meal. However, I was only charged for a sandwich and chips and not given a drink. When I asked about my cup, I was told I would have to pay separately for a drink because it was not rung up as a meal. Despite explaining that I had requested a meal, I was still charged again for the drink.
Additionally, when I made a simple comment that it seemed the store was out of several items, both the cashier and Bobbi became argumentative and defensive rather than addressing the concern professionally.
Two customers behind me ultimately left due to the experience, and they shared that this location is frequently out of items. I can confirm that during a previous visit, this same location was also out of bread.
Overall, this experience reflected poor management, lack of preparation, unprofessional behavior, and concerning food safety practices. Because of this, I will not be returning to this location.
