A few nights ago, around 1 am, I was on my way home from hosting karaoke across town. I knew this Subway had a 24hr drive through, so I ordered a sandwich on the app. My default sandwich. Flatbread, veggie patty, untoasted, no cheese, extra tomatoes, pickles, green peppers, spinach, lettuce, pepper, oregano, and sweet onion sauce. Picked it up and parked in the parking lot to eat it. Didn't want to wait until I got home. I was hungry. So I'm sitting in the car opening this sandwich, prepared exercise extreme caution in handling this thing because, if you've ever held a typical flatbread sandwich with plenty of fixings, you'll know...things tend to escape. But I unwrap this sandwich, oh, and it was cold. The veggie patty should be warm, so I was worried I received a cold veggie patty. Turns out not only was the veggie patty nice and warm, but it was perfectly, and I must emphasize PERFECTLY contained within the flatbread beneath the nice cold, crisp veggies, which seemed to be engineered to hold each other in place. Every bite, everything just held together. I was so impressed with that sandwich I had to swing back around the drive through and express my sincere appreciation for just how perfectly constructed that sandwich was. Melana was her name. I asked how long she had been doing this. She said 21 YEARS. That explained it! I had originally thought maybe I was just tripping since it was late and I was hungry. But no, the experience shows. So if you ever have the good fortune of having Melana at Subway # 10798 on SR 434 in Longwood build your sandwich, you are in for a treat!
