I have used this location for many years because I travel often, and having 24/7 access to my mailbox was extremely convenient. Under the previous ownership, the service was always timely, professional, and dependable.
Unfortunately, since the change in ownership, the experience has noticeably declined. I understand transitions take time, and I tried to remain patient and understanding. However, the new ownership has not inspired confidence in their level of organization, customer service, or operational knowledge. There also appears to be constant staff turnover, which has affected the overall experience.
The store is currently under remodeling, which could be a positive improvement, but at the moment it feels very disorganized and chaotic. Customers were informed that 24/7 mailbox access would be discontinued, but the access was locked earlier than the stated date. I arrived at 6:00 AM expecting to access my mailbox and found my keys no longer worked.
When I returned later for clarification, the owner immediately became defensive and interrupted my concerns to explain her position regarding customer complaints about the new policy. After the conversation settled down, she did offer to personally assist with package retrieval after hours, which I appreciated as an effort to accommodate customers.
However, shortly after that discussion, I arrived to pick up a delivered package and staff could not locate it. Employees were digging through boxes in a very disorganized manner, and there appeared to be no management present at the time.
I was also told that removing 24/7 access was mandated by UPS Corporate. From my own research and inquiries, that does not appear to be accurate, as other UPS Store franchise locations continue to offer 24/7 access. It seems this may be an individual owner decision rather than a corporate requirement. Because of this change, I asked whether I could cancel my mailbox agreement and transfer to another location that better fits my needs, but I was told no.
At this point, I simply expect honesty, communication, and organized service. I do plan to confirm the policy details with UPS Corporate and review my contractual options.
I do want to recognize Melissa, who remained from the previous ownership. She has consistently been the most knowledgeable, professional, and helpful employee there. She has honestly been the stabilizing force during this transition.
The City of Lauderhill deserves businesses that maintain strong customer service standards and professionalism. I truly hope this location improves because it was once an excellent place to do business.
