  i bought a ignition module for my 1993 ford van for 79 dollars . i installed it and it worked for a few days and burned out found out it was a different color and the wrong one . they told me no replacement and no refunds on electrical parts !!!!! i said but you gave me the wrong one . and he told me i might have told them the wrong year of my van !!!!!! Auto zone gave me the right one WITH A 2 YEAR WARRANTY !!!!!!!! Now i know why all the mechanics in town use auto zone . They stand behind all the parts they sell !

  I purchased a DieHard auto battery on 5/28/2006 from Advance for $191 and within two weeks the battery was failing to hold a charge, despite the claims of warranty. When I brought in the battery, after taking it to a local mechanic as I thought the voltage might be drained by a short or other voltage vampire. The retailer at Advance put in on two different testers till he found one that he used to declaired the battery was 100% fine. I said ok, then keep it here overnight and tell me that in the morning.When I returned the next morning, they had hooked up my battery to a charger and were still were having issues declaring it was A OK with the testing device. The clerk even tried cleaning the post (stating "the post had corrosion on it", mind you— this was a new battery with their Advance Auto dielectric gel pads put on when I purchased the battery less than 30 days ago, at that time. Conclusion: Run away from Advance Auto or any other retailer repurposing a brand-name from a new "source". As an advertising exec, I have seen this play out too often in my career. Intellectual capital like brand names have little meaning except as a device to take credit for a once-well-build product without earning the sound reputation the name of the product once stood for. Ironically, this battery should have been renamed to "Die-Fast".
