The young lady working at the store was fantastic. When we arrived, there were four people ahead of us, and mobile orders kept pouring in, at least ten or more while we were waiting. She was working quickly, very efficiently, and completely ALONE! What?!
Her attitude and friendliness were amazing. She remained smiling and pleasant throughout the entire time. Most employees would have walked out under the pressure she was facing.
There is a big sign on the back of the building that says, "New Ownership." Subway needs to take away this franchise. My understanding, based on a conversation with another customer who was a former employee, is that the policy is to have only one employee on duty after 5:00 p.m. Sure, profits may be up, and customers waited patiently while she worked tirelessly to serve everyone, but the owner needs to understand that happy employees create happy customers.
Not to mention the safety concerns. What if something happened and she was injured? Or worse, what if someone tried to take advantage of a young woman working by herself?
This is a perfect example of what is wrong in our country today. The ownership is probably part of a multi-store operation that has figured out how to maximize profits on the backs of minimum-wage employees. It's the old Walmart credo: they don't care if one customer leaves because two more are coming in.
I will not visit this store again, and it has nothing to do with the young lady who was working. I refuse to patronize a business that treats its employees this way. It's simply wrong.
To add to it all, Subway no longer has a survey that goes to corporate, instead it is an AI Chat bot that sends the message to the owner. Wow, guess they really don't care about people.
