  I’m disappointed in how the manager chose to handle my damaged package, and I want to share this experience so others don’t have to learn the hard way like I did. We shipped four antique Pyrex bowls that have been in our family for years. Note we came in with 9boxes and it was not asked to inventory and yes this box had fragile on it. We used a Home Depot box and wrapped each bowl in thick towels. Three bowls arrived safely, but the large mixing bowl was shattered into smithereens. At the store, the screen asked whether the value was over $100 — we said no — but no one explained that this question only applies to lost packages, not damaged ones. When we filed a damage claim through the UPS portal, it was rejected because we used a Home Depot box. It would have been helpful if someone at the store had told us that using a non UPS box voids damage coverage. We were also told the franchise store makes the final decision. When we spoke with the manager, all he had to do was offer a reasonable compromise, especially since no one at the store advised us on proper packing. And considering three bowls survived, it’s clear the box was mishandled — likely dropped — causing the large bowl to break. It felt disrespectful that the manager wouldn’t even discuss a small reimbursement between $5 and $100 to acknowledge the mistake on both sides and the poor customer experience. If all we are going to do is check a box at work and not help the customer both education and service, then my friends pick another store and learn from this.

  There is a sweet, little lady wearing braces who is always warm and pleasant. She never makes me feel like an old woman. She answers all of my questions without an eye roll some people give the elderly. I actually look forward to visiting my local store.
