I would like to report a serious food safety and customer service concern at the Subway located at 1st & K NE.
An older female employee has been consistently disrespectful and unprofessional during my visits. On my most recent visit, while preparing my sandwich, she accidentally cut her finger with the knife. I immediately told her that I did not want my sandwich made with the same bread or knife because of the risk of contamination. She refused my request and insisted that there was no bleeding.
A few moments later, I could clearly see blood on her glove. I was preparing to leave because I was very concerned about the health risk. Fortunately, another younger female employee stepped in, removed the contaminated bread and knife, and prepared my sandwich safely.
This situation is completely unacceptable. Food safety procedures should always be followed, especially when an employee is bleeding. The employee should have stopped preparing food immediately, changed her gloves, cleaned and sanitized the area, and used clean utensils before serving any customer.
I hope this matter is taken seriously and that appropriate food safety training and corrective action are provided to prevent this from happening again.
